why do americans think illegal means mexican?

There are millions of illegal americans from EUROPE (and of course, other places) but I dont see any of you complaining about them!!!

Goodluck in getting a straight answer to this question,I asked something similar a while back and only received the all well known "don't ask a stupid question,and go back to mexico and fix your country".I know that many of the people in the protests were Mexican as some have stated on here and that yes the majority waving flags were Mexican,but if all those anti illegal people truly wish for the pro illegals to quit using the "race card" as they have stated so many times why not just say illegals .As they have stated many times illegal is illegal no matter the race or ethnicity.

Because they are the ones destroying our small town in our southern states, what the hell are they doing their anyway, that is not territory they claim as Aztlan. I don't see Europeans standing on street corners looking for work and looking like gang members, Europeans aren't spreading MS-13 gangs through out
America and Europe. It's the illegal Mexicans making encampments in canyons and spreading their trash and sometimes starting fires. But I don't care for any illegal no matter where they come from. Their are 800 thousand that come illegally from other countries every year. And I am sick of it. And all the illegals from Europe are not Americans, if you are not a citizen you are not an American. And it wasn't Europeans marching and protesting waving European flags, it was the Mexicans waving their stupid Mexican flags. Here they are working and supporting their families in America, and waving the flag of the country they are fleeing from, that has given them nothing , man talk about a stupid Mexican they caused their own problems. That is so disrespectful to this country. The Mexicans are not coming for freedom or religious persecution, they are coming for money only, they have no intentions of becoming Americans.

Americans don't think any such thing. SOME Americans, might. Don't put all Americans in one category. The illegal Mexicans brought the attention to themselves when they protested, flew the flag of the country that they were fleeing FROM in protest of the USA, demanded rights they don't have, cost American taxpayers billions annually for welfare and other federally funded assistance. When we say we want illegal immigrants deported, we mean ALL illegal immigrants, no matter WHERE they come from. Many from other countries are going back because they don't have legal documentaion. They know they are are wrong and are not pitching the tantrum illegal Mexicans and other Hispanic/Latinos are pitching. They are civilized and know they should have obeyed the law and aren't fighting it. They will most likely get back in quicker, legally by going back and entering legally instead of wasting time trying to fight it. Latinos are going to be the losers unless they start using common sense (lol).

b/c they are the ones that are seen in the rallies, on tv, their president got involved in the immigration issue etc.... you don't see any other groups getting so involved.... there are many other illegal groups.... they just are not as vocal.... and they are not known to get in as much trouble.... besides.... there may be more mexicans since mexico is a stone throw away..... europeans require a plane/boat trip..... I would keep my mouth shut if i had to come all that way to cross a 'border'.....mexicans are just more open it seems with being here illegally than some other groups, so some ppl equate illegal with mexican

IEuropean illegals- where? don't see any of them waiting in line for food stamps or welfare here in San Diego county. What I do see is a bunch of Mexicans, speaking spanish. Flying mexican flags in their houses.

I lived in Mexico for a few months. I thought it was great. Mexicans are nice people. Some of them aren't . Same as white people, black people, Chinese whatever.
When I was in Mexico I made an effort to speak spanish.
I didn't jump a fence to get there. Illegal aliens just be coming here illegally show no respect for America. Come on over when you learn our language and respect our culture. You used to take a citizenship test to come here, what happened? Its a privelege to come here its a great country. If its not better than Mexico, how come every one is trying to come over?

Because like everything in America, it becomes generalized. The mass majority of the problem with illegal immigrants are the ones walking/tunneling/swimming across the southern border, swarming in here by the thousands, bringing with them their greed, corruption, drugs and disesase. Why in the U,K. does illegal immigrant often mean the muslim community? Same reasoning behind that. Quite simply mexicans are the greatest common factor (illegal aliens) in the states, especially border states.

I agree and I have asked the same question myself. I guess it is easier to just pick Mexicans because it is south of the border. I disagree with that and feel that the statistics should also include all the different nationalities other than Hispanics. Not only that, but anyone that speaks Spanish in lumped in as a Mexican. Unfortunately some people call everyone who does not have the skin color as light as theirs it is identified as Mexican. I happen to be Hispanic born in US and cannot tell what nationality a person is unless I speak with that person. Your question is very legitimate and I wish I had better information to answer your question. Perhaps an Anglo can answer.

They are not invading this country by the millions. They don't march around the streets waving their country of origin flags, they don't make demands. The Mexican people have taken over the city I live in. My once beautiful city looks like Tijuana now.

Americans, particularly the poorly educated, are quite insensitive and racist and just don't "get" why Brazilians, Hondurans, Guatemalans, and Nicaraguans get soooooo offended when they're all lumped together as "Mexicans". But try calling a Scot an Irishman or vice versa, and you'd better run. Better yet, call a white Southerner a yankee and then duck!
