<---American. But I do get to say that I am from California and that accent is the one most hear on commercials, movies, etc... (mostly because we've got Hollywood in CA.) I don't like the southern American accent. As bad as this may sound, it sounds uneducated. I like NY accents. And WisCANSEN accent is interesting. American "obsessive slang" is so ugly. I like foreign accents though. I've heard Spanish with a French accent is pretty, but Spanish with an American accent is not.

I've heard most places do NOT like the American accent(s).

What accent?
America is a large continent with many languages.
I guess that you mean the spoken English in USA.
Well to tell you the truth some people in USA speak an English that was commonly use by lower educated persons in England about 150 years ago and manly by prisoners in the jailhouses. It is an old fashion way of speaking English too.

There is no single American accent, just as there is no single British accent! Think!! Would you want to be labelled like this?? Even different areas of the same state have differences in pronounciation; and many of the states are about the size of the UK.

That's nice to know. In America, more and more TV and radio advertising features people with English accents. They grab attention, and most Americans love the sound.

there are many regional american accents, just as someone from yorkshire sounds different from someone in kent.my favorite american accent is from north carolina-called "high tider",used by people on the coast.it was lovely, aristocratic and vaguely elizabethan, brought over by the first settlers from england.unfortunately, its dying out now, only very old people have it.too bad-it was charming. an old charleston accent, too, was soft and beautiful-almost gone now as well.

Which one?

There's New England, the Pennsylvania area, the South, the Midwest (which is really a lack of any accent, and can be found in newscasters), and the West Coast. Which one do you like?

I am American and I honestly don't find anything appealing about our accent. I would think most foreigners would find our speech a bit harsh?
