I don,t think any family should keep secrets because sometime down the road they will come out and they seem to be worse when let out later like this one I just got into my husbands family maybe a few years or so and his Aunt was cheating on his uncle I saw her with her boyfriend at the county fair pretty big place to run into her I walk up and said hey whats you doing she was shocked but when we got home I told my husband either you call him and tell him or do I so I did the next thing that I knew he took her clothes and throw them into the front yard she was so mad at us when their was a family get together we didn't feel so comfortable but we stuck it out and it only took her two years to come around but she never got rid of the boyfriend either to this day her husband has passed away and she is still with the same boyfriend so don't worry about having a big mouth I do to and I don't like keeping secrets the only secrets we keep is good ones

Keeping secrets is a form of dishonesty. Omission of facts is the equivalent of lying. With family relationships and all relationships, honesty is the best policy. One lie always leads to another lie but "truth" is always the same. Therefore, one who is honest and keeps no secrets does not have to remember any cover-up excuses or to hide anything or apologize when the truth comes out, which it always does. Therefore, the answer is NO.
FAMILY SECRETS ARE NOT GOOD.

I don't believe in keeping secrets in a family or otherwise. I had to keep secrets about the abuse that me and my siblings went thru. I sure wish we hadn't of kept the secrets! Then the abuse would have ended a lot sooner than it did!

Drives me crazy. I mean the big ones, not like grandma gives you a cookie before dinner and you don't tell mom. But I'm honest to a fault now and cause all sorts of trouble in my family because I refuse to not talk about things to preserve "family harmony".

family secedes are like misspelled words or flaws in a perfect painting, when you tell every one about these every one just feel bummed out. in my family there are many twists and turns in the ruffles and they are very hard to keep under raps so try not to think of these things that trouble you and try to take a different path. though i am only 14 i have manged to keep many secedes from every member of the family. it is very normal to have secrets so don't worry about it.

Some things need to be kept so that you don't hurt anyone in your family. I know you have a big mouth, but is it worth it?

Family secrets can literally kill relationships and people. My sons father, who was already suicidal, found out on his 30th birthday that he was adopted by his birth mother. 6 months later he OD'ed on prescription meds.

some of our family secrets have destroyed relationships between some of my family members. I think they are very unhealthy.

no secrets, because sooner or later the truth comes out, and it will hurt the person that was not told something important.
