I have bad headaches, right now my head hurts so much but I can't take any pain meds because if I do then when it gets worse later I'll be in a ball and crying.

any time I take something for my head it is ibuprofen, 600mg, which I can only take once every 24 hours. It never lasts for long either, maybe half an hour on a good day. And that's just to lessen the pain not stop it.

I was taking headache relief, it has Acetaminophen 250mg, Aspirin 250mg, and Caffeine 65mg, in each pill and I had to take 4 at a time. Which means I could only take it twice a day, it worked longer then the other stuff but broke out because of them.

I would like to know some natural ways to rid my head of pain, please it's killing me. I have an appointment with a doctor on Friday but right now it hurts bad.

Lyndsey H: I tried heat, it doesn’t work. Thank you for your idea.

YourDreamDoc: Caffeine works less then the pills, I do drink caffeine to keep my headaches from causing me to stay in bed all day. But it doesn’t help enough. Thank you for your idea.

sverthfreyr: needles and me don’t get along, okay I can’t stand needles. Thank you for your idea.

Their is another problem with my headaches, i've been having them for over five years. Docs in NY couldn't find anything, did a whole ray of tests. I'm going to see how docs in PA are.

I just want to be able to sit at the computer, clean the house, heck even wake up without feeling pain.

Hi there. I never had headaches before until just recently. I started geting awful migraines that would last up to 3 days long. My doctor prescribed prescription medication which helped sometimes. Then, I read a book about Magnesium. It claimed that headaches are often caused by a deficiency in magnesium. I followed the instructions and have not had one of those awful debilitating headaches for 7 months now. I still get the occasional headache, but it is totally manageable now. This is the book. Check it out!

I think your Doc is going to be the best person for the job. What kind of foods do you eat and drink? Some people become so addicted to caffeine that their bodies think they can't live without it and it can become a real pain, literally!! Caffeine is found in not just coffee and soda, but lots of other foods, such as chocolate. Maybe you should have your Doc schedule you for an MRI to make sure there isn't something else going on there. Being on that much medication can really hurt you later on and cause liver and heart failure. Your best bet is to try and get off of it asap. You body builds a natural immunity to the drugs you take and over time, your drug intake could double if you aren't careful. I too suffer from chronic headaches, but once I completely got off the caffeine and chocolate and stuff, and started eating more natural foods, my headaches went away and I rarely get one now. When I do, it's nothing that Tylenol can't take care of. Please stress a test to your Doc when you go in. Something worse could be going on that you aren't even aware of. Good luck!

It's funny, I was having the same issue last week. The best thing you can do is relax. it seems stupid. But think of anything at all possible to distract you from the pain. Obviously, take medicine to try to aleveate the pain, preferrably in the early onset of a headache.

Also, avoid chocolate and caffiene. There is a chemical in both that honestly doesnt do much when consumed.

If you have been recently under stress, on or weaning off a new medicine, or wearing a new glass prescription - be sure to let your doctor know when you see him/her.

Good luck!

Caffeine works on headaches, but it is a double edge sword. I've heard that if you get a teaspoon of Chinese Mustard and take a deep whiff (don't inhale the mustard, just smell) that it will get rid of your headache.

If the headaches are frequent, you may want to see a chiropractor or a doctor.

You know I have the same problem. Even tylenols don't help and I can't take asprin. But I suggest you dream teas. or coffee. Cafferine tend to fix headache after enough sleep. I had this morning and I had to take a couple of black tea and feel a sense of relief

You should call your doctor NOW and report the severity of symptoms. He may have you come into the office or call in a Rx for a med that works better.

I have taken Excedrin for Migraines. It worked pretty good. Sometimes I put a cold compress on my forehead. I am glad you are going to the doctor soon.

I have seen on TV something called Head-On. You apply it directly to the forehead. It's worth a try if they sell it where you live. You seem to have tried most other options! Hope you're feeling better later on!!

Go to an acupuncturist. Not only can they help with pain relief. They can also help reduce the frequency of your headaches.
