Christianity takes the brunt of American discord, because it is the predominant religion and it's the dominant mindset/culture that people trying to break free of.
People have become disillusioned. They feel cheated and lied to.
They are angry and need to place blame.

Its the age of Aquarius. Its not just controversy over Christianity...its surrounding all religions. We are in an age of free thinkers and people want all the mystery taken out of everything. I am not dogging on Christianity but I do have to say that there is a lot of controversy about it because it has a lot of information that is not based in fact. Its the same with all religions.

Maybe a more telling question is Why aren't there so many arguments and controversy around other religions?

because there are a lot of christians out there who sit there and push their religion on other people, and the other people retaliate by finding errors/holes or stuff to debate about in the religion. not everyone likes religion pushed on them. or maybe it has to do with the history of christianity, or perhaps because of the profound proclamation of moral behavior and the amount of people who call themselves christians and dont act it provoke others to question the religion itself
