A short list.of possibilities
--They don't want to see the immediate consequences -- that the other person is angry or hurt.
--They could be hoping to start things up later, they don't want to completely burn a bridge.
--They're procrastinators.
--They're cowards when it comes to confronting others about anything and everything.
--They know they'll feel more guilty if they end the relationship in person.
--They know it's best to end this relationship, and they're afraid if they try to end it in person, they will change their mind. This has probably happened before.

Sometimes it is the right thing to do that is to end the relationship. And in that sometimes it is so hard to say goodbye that you know if you do try and explain and say goodbye you are only going to end up hurting the other person as well as yourself more in the long run and you might even be asked to give it "one more shot". Well if you know that one more shot is not going to work and you can not say no to the questions sometimes you just have to walk away and hope that the other person will understand the main reasons. My ex did it. I dont know what is t reason till now. As it's not t type of guy I need & worth to be my partner, I texted him, "this is not a relationship that I am looking for, if u r treating me like that will be our ending." He didn't say goodbye but I would say goodbye to him 1st & drop it....

I think that most of the time when people say goodbye then the other person wants to ask why. Maybe they do it so they don't have to explain themselves.... the truth may hurt so they would rather just end it quickly and easily.

Goodbye's could be nasty. Especially for the person who still wants it. Hate to see women cry. HATE IT.

Probably because there is no real reason so its easier this way. They just dont want to be in the relationship anymore. When someone does that you know for sure your better off without them.

cos saying goodbye is never easy and people are afraid. they dont want to hurt you, and most of the time they are not sure about their feelings either so they find it easier to get away without saying anything...they believe it makes it easier for both sides

its easyer then too just come out and say good bye i know my boyfriend wants too be with my sister cuzz they kinda went out but he says he dont but he cant say goodbye because he thinks i will hate him thats is why people dont end the relationship with a goodbye!

because some people are not mature enough to do the adult thing, and break off a relationship face to face, like they should.
And sometimes they think they are being less hurtful this way, but they are always wrong.
