Yes a husky would be a great pet. You have to realize, though, that these dogs need a great deal of exercise. I mean a lot!
Also, since they're a northern breed they do lose a lot of coat when they shed, so be prepared for lots of grooming to get the dead hair out. But they're good companions, not known for being aggressive and you'd probably enjoy one.

They would be for an active teen - they need lots of exercise. If you run, ride your bike or skateboard much, this would be a good match. If you play video games & watch TV a lot, not. I have seen people with active dogs like Huskies pulling them on skateboards, or running alongside them on bikes (in magazines like Dog Fancy, they have even advertised a special springed clip to safely attach a dog to your bike), which they love. This is also a dog that needs a secure area outside, as they have the instinct to get out & run. They are well-known for climbing fences & are the Houdinis of the dog world. Many peple find an enclosed kennel/run with a top or cover works best. Keeping them exercised helps lessen the urge to escape & run. You can learn more by going to www.akc.org & click on 'breeds'. You may want to check out 'breed rescue' there, also - many dogs that are past the housetraining stage need homes, and you will be giving a dog a second chance in life. That's a good thing, and will be rewarded with many great times together.

If the teen likes dogs, any dog will be a good pet. The dog breed should match his/her activity level.
This is a short quiz to help narrow down good selections for a breed: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/search.htm.
Just because a dog is a certain breed doesn't mean it will act a definitive way. They still have their own personalities. Breed dictates more like how much exercise it might need, what type it is suited for (swimming for a lab, running for greyhound), shedding, vocal tendencies, etc.
If you're getting a puppy, you could ask the breeder if the puppies have had a temperment test. Info on it is here: http://www.pbrc.net/temperament.html. That helps you with getting a puppy that seems to have a personality best suited for you.

Huskies have a habit of running away... as do many similar breeds... they also tend to be more independent than some other breeds so they may not be the best dog for someone feeling lonely or depressed often. Here is a great site for information... http://www.shca.org/
I like the idea of the Great Dane, though I don't know much about the breed, one will certainly bring you a lot of attention and the possibility to make a lot of human friends. I've heard that they are big babies at home and like to think that they are lap dogs too... so that would mean you get a lot of attention from your new best friend... whatever breed you decide on please do research before you take one home to make sure they are right for you! http://www.gdca.org/
Also check out http://www.petfinder.com and consider adopting... breed rescue is another great place to look... do a search for your selected breeds parent club by searching "(breed name) club of America" for the best links to breeders and breed rescues... there are a ton of purebreds on petfinder as well.
And never buy from a pet store... the incidence of genetic as well as general health concerns is significantly higher in pet store puppies... behavioral problems are immense as they were taken from their parents at much too young of an age... and you can't imagine what that cute little thing in the window went through before he got there... but what's happening to his parents is much worse... http://www.prisonersofgreed.org

Siberian Huskys are working dogs and need lots of exercise. You will need to take this dog out for long walks. Here is a good chance to meet people and talk about your dog as long as you have properly trained and groomed it.
This dog does shed lots and lots in the spring, so you will need to comb out the winter fur and clean up the house a lot.
All dogs will love and respect their human masters as long as their masters take a proper leadership roll.

Yes, but they (all dogs) are so much work. Be ready for the work before you get one.
