You have the situation analyzed quite well. Except for a couple of things....

First, Saddam threatened Bush I a long time ago, and I think Bush II wanted to get even. That said, let's face the facts here - we are already there and so are the terrorists and insurgents. Let's fight them on their turf rather than on the streets of Bakersfield, or San Antonio, or Miami.

They are at war for thousands of years and are trying to spread all over the globe. Remember the 'trade center', well Bush went into the infested area and kicked the big bad boy's butt on their turf so as to keep their battle away and us safe. I don't like our people in there but the idea is a simple one. Destroy theirs not ours.

Because Bush won't admit he made a mistake. Killing more Americans in an ill thought out war is insane. No weapons of mass destruction, Saddam out of power, elections held. What's going to be the next reason he comes up with? I guess he plans to fill up the country with illegals after he kills off all the good Americans in war.

Bush knows that he can't stop it, but war is the best business ever and he's not missing that opportunity.

Hubris. And the unquestioned belief in the rightness of his actions.

Despite all logic or evidence to the contrary.

I don't want planes flown into my office building. I don't want my commuter train bombed. I don't want my wife and child called a legitimate target by radicals. If we do nothing then we end up living with an America where that happens everyday. If we don't fight them over there over there our way, then we fight them over here their way

I would rather our military engage them there , than here. Who wants a guerrilla war in New york?
