I've never permed my hair, but am looking for an easy way to deal with my already somewhat wavy hair in the morning without breaking out the hairdryer every morning. Can anyone give me some tips?

If you dye your hair I'd say don't get the perm, you'll have a lot of upkeep to deel with between dye touch ups & perm touch ups. & you have to wait at least two weeks before you can do either.

If your hair is in good condition a perm should be fine. Just remember when your hair begins to grow out it will be straighter, so you'll have to keep it up. I'd reccomend a perm on larger rods so it will just give your waves just a bit more of a curl.

I would advise against it for a couple reasons. First of all, if you have straight hair and perm it, it will never be the same again. Second of all, straight hair is more in style than perms. If you want to go from a permed do to a straight do, you will have to use a straightening iron which will cause damage on top of the damage that perms cause. Straight hair is beautiful...leave it as is.

A perm is nice because you can have it curly and more manageable, but if you want to straighten it you can still do that with a flat iron. It causes a lot of damage to your hair though! If you have naturally thick, healthy hair it probably won't do TOO much damage (noticeably anyways) but if it isn't in great shape to begin with you might regret putting all those chemicals in it. With wavy hair, you could always try scrunching it with product and gel when it's super wet and let it air dry, or putting some leave in conditioner and mouse and then twisting individual pieces into curls and letting it air dry. I have really wavy hair but it can be really curly if I do either of the above. I sympathize with you though because if I'm wanting it to look "done" in the morning and not curly I always have to spend a lot of time either blowdrying with a round brush or straightening with a flat iron lol. Good luck to you. =]

Ick - sorry, just get pictures of 80's and early 90's big frizzy hair when someone says perm. Why don't you just purchase a straightening iron? It only takes about 10-15 minutes to straighten wavy hair, sometimes less. I have wavy hair also and straighten my hair every morning. You don't need an expensive model either - the base Conair model works just fine.

I think it's good. Lots of girls I know have gotten perms and their hair looks great. I don't think you could go wrong with a perm unless you have a round face 'cuz the perm would just widen/rounden it.

Don't get one, I got one and my hair still curls at night, put your hair up in pig tails, a ponytail, or a bun. Perms can and may last years. They suck.

DONT DO IT. i got one a year ago and my hair is damaged falling out and is even worse to style. if you want to leave your hair wen you get up try leaving it wet in curlers at night. then you are ready for the morning
