I am trying to lose some weight, and was wondering if having a fruit smoothie instead of a meal would really work for me. I usually buy a bag of frozen fruits, and add a cup of of MinuteMaid juice to give it a liquid base. Just wondering if this would actually help out or if it is a waste of my time!

Smoothies are GREAT tasting... to have you lose weight though? Hmmm, Water is the best thing to drink when trying to lose weight. If you are trying to lose weight, it has to be one of those snack deals. Here is a fun recipe: get frozen strawberries, pineapple (canned, fresh, doesn't matter), a banana, and maybe some blueberries (fresh or frozen...I'd pick frozen)... put the banana at the bottom of the blender, the rest on top...blend to your taste with a liquid base (GRAPE juice that is not sweetened, no artifical flavors or sweeteners).... and you got yourself a GREAT Smoothie...just let everyone know that was my recipe.

It won't help. That's all sugar. Sugar is horrible if you are on a diet. It can cause inflammation and slows your metabolism and makes you cling onto your fat. Also sugar messes with your insulin and makes you crave it more.

Honestly, if you are trying to lose weight, you need to cut out as much sugar as you can from your diet--if not ALL sugar. Try not to eat more than 10-20 grams of sugar a day if you can help it.

It could help if you actually use it as a meal replacement for lunch. Dont skip breakfast though and dont drink your smoothie and eat meal afterwards

Actually it depends on ingredients. Is it dead or alive? Freezing does not kill the plant foods, but pasteurizing does. See site below for more on this.
