A bagel like that is white carbs and sugar. It won't fill you up and will leave you with cravings for more. Instead of that, try a plain whole wheat bagel and put fat free cream cheese or peanutbutter on it.

Also, bagels tend to be WAY oversized. Find small bagels that aren't more than 200 calories each or switch over to whole wheat bread instead.

First of all- you shouldn't be on a 'diet'. Diets don't work and are inherently temporary.
Think rather about how you wish to change your lifestyle to something you can live on the rest of your life.

Bagels are generally a refined wheat product with little nutritional value. The blueberries you suggest are pretty good for you - so that's a plus. Bagels are also dense- i.e. have high calories.

But- a half a bagel for breakfast. Perhaps one with some fiber in it, and topped with a protein source (lox? tuna?), a small amount of cream cheese and some veggies- is not only yummy, but good for you. As far as being 'good for you'. Well, it all depends what you're comparing it to. If the alternative is sausage and bacon- yes, a bagel is good for you.

There are few foods that are really BAD for you. It's just a matter of how much of them you eat.

A low carb diet is not the only diet out there. A plain bagel has 320 calories with only 10 calories from fat. And with only 1g of fat, you're doing pretty good on the fat count. Sodium and carbohydrates are what will hit you. Both are about a quarter of your daily intake.

But that isn't the end of the world. You know your diet and like most foods, you can probably fit this one in. A diet should be about balance. If you can balance this food, then it's good. (Oh, but cream cheese is whole 'nother story.)

Absolutely. This low-carb craze is just a fad. A bagel is perfectly wholesome. Just don't eat a half dozen of them smeared with a half pound of cream cheese and butter.

By the way, dieting should be done in moderation. The key to sustainable weight loss is exercise.

DON'T DIET! BALANCE! Eat the bagel if you want it. Just make sure you it less carbs the rest of the day. AND drink lots of water to flush out. Part of our weight is do to full bowels. Eat more fiber later also, the blueberry bagel is starchy. You need fruits and vegetables to help break down the fibers starches and protein. AND don't forget to get up and move your body to use up the fuel you put in it.

No. Bagels are very high in carbs and sugar. If you are going to eat bagels choose the Whole wheat ones, they won't spike your blood sugar like the other ones do. Eating a regular bagel or piece of bread spikes your blood sugar like eating table spoonfuls of sugar. This will cause weight gain, and make you more hungry.

Not really. They have like low carb bagels, and low fat ones too. So if it's a regular bagel, I would say no. They are high in carbs.

Perhaps a better choice if it's all that you have access to would maybe to eat only half.

I like to eat half of a wheat bagel with tuna. It's very good and not bad for you.

No...there isn't much beneficial anything in a bagel (unless you're eating whole grain ones) but they are yummy...that's basically one of the carbs you should avoid when dieting...sorry...
