of course there is. an unchristian (or noncristian) person can still be a good and decent person who does not act immorally.

remember, christian is a type of theology or religious classification. to be unchristian, as you say, could mean that the person is either athiest, or they might simply follow a different religious belief or culture than that of the christian cult.

however, to be immoral means to contain a charactericistic that has no direct relation to religion or spiritual belief. it has to do with personal values and conscience. when a person has, acquires or develops morals (or not) , that means that they have certain expectations, limitations, and boundaries levels that they have set for themselves and lives by.

immorality rides hand in hand with the qualities of having no or little compassion for others or mankind in general; inflicts actions without any concern or care of the consequences that follow for himself as well as others; dishonesty; doesn't care about bettering or advancing themselves in any concept; experiences no remorse or growth from bad choices; is entirely selfish; and usually has no self-pride, integrity or dignity in their person.

now, while alot of "christians" would say jhat these two concepts are the same, they are condemning those that do not practice their faith choices and beliefs, even though people of all regligious backgrounds are certainly capable of being a good soul and human being. isn't that judgment and infliction a bit "Immoral"? (and perhaps hypocritically inhumane and selfish?

First of all. Who are you or who is anyone to decide what is UNchristian?
There is NO such thing as Unchristian my friend. What chapter and verse did you read this?

There are things that are not Christ-like. What does this mean? simple, a Christian asks for forgivness.

Not Christian & Immoral, is the same thing, according to the Holy Bible. According to man, anyone can be moral.

I have not read where good morals, gets a person in heaven.

I suppose if you were to define Christian behavior as totally kind, totally loving, totally selfless, anything you did that wasn't kind or loving or selfless would be un-Christian behavior. For example if I cut in front of someone in line at the market, that could be considered a rude, un-Christian thing to do. But I wouldn't really consider it immoral, but technically I guess it would be if my morals say I should be kind and put others needs ahead of my own. Stupid, mean, selfish, yes. I suppose it also depends on how far a person is in their spiritual evolution. For some people there are larger moral issues to resolve, i.e. stealing, lying, cheating, etc. but they may be nice to the person in the store.

Immoral behavior is always un-Christian, but un-Christian behavior may not be immoral.

Thanks for a good question that's going to have me thinking all day!

There is a huge difference between "unchristian" behavior and immoral behavior. The "rules" for being a good christian are different than having good morals. Christians believe in god and follow the bible. But you can still have good morals and not believe in god and the bible.

I think there is a big difference. Christianity does not have a monopoly on morality and what is perceived as moral can vary between cultures and through history. To give an example, Paul preaches that a woman should not speak in church but ask her husband if she has any queries. Nowadays it is quite normal for most denominations to have female ministers.

sure there is lot of difference. "unchristian" refers to the person who doesn't have faith in christ which basically denotes to a religion. whereas "immoral" represents human values and ethics. If the behavior of a person is against the morals and values is called immoral ,which doesn't have any connection with religion. So, unchristian can not always be said immoral.

Once again, this goes back to the question -- can a non-christian have morals. YES !!!!!!!! So, a non-christian can exhibit immoral behavior. Which would mean, yes, there CAN be a difference. Or, behavior can be both if you consider yourself a Christian.

It depends. What is and isn't "Christian" behavior is based on Christian doctrine. If you are using Christian doctrine to define what is and isn't moral, then they are the same thing. But if you are using different moral standards, for example, Muslim or Objectivist or Buddhist, then they are not the same thing.

The real question you need to answer is, how do you define what is moral?

They are quite close but are not the samething. When a christain commits sin,he is only a christain who sinned,IT DOES NOT MAKE HIM A SINNER. Immoral behaviour on the other hand can be descibed as the lifestyle of the UNSAVED. It is normal and as such they dont feel any remorse.

Christian standards are higher than moral standards. A non-Christian can be moral or immoral, as can a Christian. But a Christian can be moral and still not behave as Christ would behave.
