I am actually a mother to two daughters, who have three grandchildren between them. I like people watching, while at the seaside the other day, hardly any of the kids were smiling, they seemed intent to get something else, and not enjoy what they had already?

for FEATHERS benefit, I generalise, the country wide, not just in London, and I know there are the nice ones, I have two of them and their children!

I do have to agree 'in general'
It seems today that most kids (and I am only 32) .. seem to have been given too much .. they dont appreciate anything and dont like the idea of having to work for things either. I am also appalled that they now study at Friends University or Will and Grace college so that every sentence they produce is constructed of 'so', 'like' and 'totally' in a random order.
How we can expect to compete with the rest of the world when all we turn out is junk food eating, daytime soap watching, playstation battering individuals is beyond me ..
Dont get me wrong .. there are lots of exceptions to the above and they will probably do great things in life .. unfortunately they do seem to be in the minority and that is scary!

I don't think you can generalise really, there are some spoilt kids, and some aren't, it is as it always was , there are good kids and not so good ones. They get more spent on them today because things cost more. On the other hand they feel it more when their family can not afford the things that next doors children have. I think they grow up faster because they see so much more than we did, TV,films and so, and good manners don't seem to be taught anywhere. Our parents and grandparents said the same about us and no doubt this generation will say the same of their children and grandchildren. !!!!!!!!!!

You only notice the ones that are spoilt rotten and not very nice. Other children (possibly the majority) who are well brought up and well behaved aren't noticed because they are doing what is expected of them.
Badly behaved children are a real nuisance. It annoys me that as I have chosen not to have children, I still have to put up with other people's kids being horrible little monsters. Bad parents should be punished.

I think its a little bit of a generalisation. I am often complemented on how well my kids behave. They might be little buggers sometimes with me, but you can take them anywhere and know that they are able to hold a decent conversation with adults, treat people correctly, with respect and are very good, kind kids. Im very proud of them. Their freinds are very nice kids too. Always personable and polite to me. And the strangest thing is that one is a teenager!!

That is a very steriotypical statement. Some are some are the exact opposite. You cant say they all are. Only some. There are a lot of different kind of kids out there from spoiled rotton to the sweetest kids u'll ever meet. Why are you only looking at the bad?

Yes you are right, the more they get the more they want.I grew up with not much and was so happy.I made my own games up with whatever was lying around the house. It has made me appreciate everything in life,I take nothing for granted. The kids around my area are just causing trouble all the time, throwing stones at old people and just terrorising the neighbourhood.nothing better to do.I sound a 100 years old now.

I agree to an extent... The kids in this generation do not know the value of a dollar. They don't know what struggle is.... They don't use their minds like we did back in the days...
Things are made to easy for them in this society and society also gives them too much power... That is why they are the way they are.....

i agree that kids today get too much, i have two children and am guilty of it myself! They dont always know what to do with themselves, i normally make a point of having a few days when there is no tv or playstation and go out with them or do crafts etc, does them the world of good.

What i cant get over with kids these days are their familiarity with grown ups, when my parents friends called i was in awe of them and very shy i wouldent dream of calling them by their first names, but now kids chat to adults as they would to their friends my kids included i dont know if it is a good thing or not
