Put a wet rag on it and keep it on until the bleeding stops, pour some hydrogen peroxide on it to keep infection out, then put a bandage on it.

i grew up with three cousins and my aunt always said if there is a bump don't worry about it unless the child gets sick later in the day. if there is no bump go to the hospital. my 2 1/2 year old fell on the corner of a small bookcase last week and had a small bump and large cut. i cleaned the cut and let him lay down. he did just fine. keep an eye out for signs of dissyness and tummy sickness.

Clean it up and see if it looks deep enough to need stitches.
If it doesn't look like it needs stitches, put bandaids or butterfly closures on it with some antibiotic cream.
Maybe put an ice pack on it if they will sit still with it.
For just a bump put arnica oil on it if the skin is not broken.

Make sure the bump site is swelling outward not inward (go to doc if it is swelling inward). Clean it well, assess it to see if it needs stitches, bandage it, give lots of TLC, and distract them from the wound. Tylenol if it seems like the pain is lingering.
