houses all smell like an open sewer, i mean for facks sake i don't know if should wipe my feet on the way in or out. how the hell you have the gall to invite anybody around to your house without being embarrassed. i used to work as a paramedic and the amount of filth that was in working class homes because of dogs would shock a tramp. 90 percent of the kids i had to take to hospital was because of toxiplasmosis because johnny no job father let his mutt defecate in the kids room.

Seems like you are using a huge generalization for dog owners. Sounds like you've been exposed to a lot of irresponsible dog owners/people. These people you talk about might have a stinky house even without the dog or other animals.
That's just gross. We have a dog and two cats and you can't smell a different when you come into our apartment.
Maybe you could follow up some of these toxiplasmosis cases with reporting the home owners to the animal cruelty office.

First of all, not ALL dog owner's houses smell like an open sewer. Second, not all people should own a dog or any pet for that matter. If they don't have time to take care of a pet properly the house is going to have some sort of stench. Third, what is this with picking on the working class?? I've seen some wealthy peoples homes that are pretty nasty before the cleaning service gets there.

Paramedics don't have to take microbiology, generally.
I'm a paramedic, and I've seen a lot of people with poorly taken care of dogs, and the dogs tend to make a mess of the house. But that doesn't mean everyone who owns dogs lives the same way. My dog lives inside, and she is well taken care of (and house trained). She gets bathed every other week or so, and aside from pet hair on the carpet, the place stays pretty clean. My roommate is messier than my dog LOL! Also, about 90% of the kids I've had to take to the hospital have been respiratory related illnesses, n/v, or minor trauma. How did you know it was toxiplasmosis? My diagnostic skills are pretty decent, but even I couldn't make a diagnosis of toxiplasmosis in the field?

I feel sorry that you feel that way. because it is also depends on the kind of house and how clean the resisdences are. i love the smell of a clean house. i have two dogs but by walking in my house you would never know. i am washing the floors every two days and then do a general cleaning of the house once a week usually on the weekends. i am allergic to most chemicals and probably look extremely silly wearing masks and gloves and stuff but my house is impaculate.
there are a lot of cleaning solutions found in pet stores that will help with the smell. there are even now candles that are made especially for the smell of dogs that trap the smell and does not let it escape.
i clean the old fashion way. floor cleaner with a half of cup of clorox and then reclean with just a clean wet towel.

Most RESPONSIBLE animal own homes do NOT smell like a sewer. When someones house smells like a sewer they should not be allow to have animals, or children for that matter, because they are lazy and do not take care of things properly.
I have two inside dogs, and one inside cat, and my house does NOT smell like a sewer. I have even had people say, " wow you have a cat? I never would have known."
If you vacuum the house everyday, and shampoo the carpets every 6 months , and clean the litter box every time the cat goes, your house will not smell.

If you don't like someones house, then don't go in. Its easy.
I also don't think its fair to lump a whole group of people together like that. I am sorry you live in such a crappy area, but not all of us do.
Toxoplasmosis (not toxi) is caused by cat feces (and undercooked meat or contaminated water) not dogs. Don't Paramedics have to take microbiology?

They are irresponsible.These same schmucks let their dogs drink out of public water fountains in the park because they are too lazy to bring a bowl.People who allow children to live in such filth should be publicly flogged.My sister in law is like that.When ever someone calls CPS on her they give her a week or so notice,and by the time they arrive,she has it cleaned up.

Are you that closed minded? I am sorry that you have seen some harsh things from homes that have dogs in them but there are owners out there that potty train their dog(s) that keep a very clean home.
Get an attitude adjustment and something else to worry about. If you don't like to go into a home with a dog don't go. Its that simple.

my dog does not do that, lol, he'll crap in the toilet put i didn't teach him how to flush yet, he's very clean and even WANTS a bath. I clean him once a day, but he loves to go in and mess around with the tub
p.s. big jimi...did u know dog tongues are cleaner then human tongues so...as clean as a human is worse lol
