What is wrong with Ikea, I think it is amazing.

255.00 for a 3 seater sofa + 70 for a spare cover. Go to one of the stores on a Tuesday evening, not very busy have some funny Swedish food and get a decent sofa. It will easily last 3 years, then buy a new one and have a new look. That is 7 quid a month over 3 years.

rather than get somebody's bugs (there must be a reason they threw it out), I suggest you buy a new sofa. There are still $400 nice sofas out there. I like the 6 footer (doubles as a bed if you have guests, but may be hard to get it into the room without a huge patio door, or unless you're on the first floor), the 3 cushion, along with some wood, and a tight weave material, and no skirt, of an easily cleanable material (scotchguarded), and in a medium to dark color with maybe some flecks in it. Believe me, that looks rich. Since it's one of the main things that really make a living room, I would suggest taking out payments. But $400-$500 should be your goal. You'll have to see what's in your area. Here we have Havertys, Roberds, Sears, Penny's, and a bunch of others. I don't think it's the store that matters, it's the sofa that matters.

We got a nice leather couch and a sectional from Rooms To Go at a reasonable price. The leather set was about $1800, including two chairs (the couch alone would be less than $1000). But, be warned, their delivery service has a spotty reputation (won't give a specific delivery time, won't let you change the delivery time, late, broken pieces, hard to get replacements/repairs, etc.).

Another choice is a warehouse store like Costco or Sam's. The frequently have furniture that is nice and reasonably priced. They also have on-line stores if you don't see anything at your local store. If you are not already a member, it might be worth it to join just to get the furniture (Costco also has a very good return policy if there is a problem).

Finally, look at futon stores. We had one that lasted for years.

To my surprise, Ashley Furniture has a few sofas that will pass for "stylish" and they are pretty cheap. Have you also tried JCPenney? They have some cute sofas for under $500.

I worked at Ashley's and you can find very nice sofas for under $400.....Also, if you have a Roomstogo try there too..Also, these places always have sales, on top of the already low prices, make sure to ask the sales person when there next sale will be....Good luck!

Try Argos if you don`t like what they have sent they will come and collect it and you still get a full refund. I only suggest them as I`ve just bought one and I`m very satisfied for occasional use and the price I paid

IKEA is a great place for sofas that aren't too expensive

If you want second-hand, you could also try eBay or Loot

Try crate & barrel, or cb2 (their more modern line). Not cheap but less then pottery barn. Sometimes Macy's and or JC Penneys has some great deals. Keep an eye out for their sales.

Oh thats easy. Shop around in your local area for those little mom and pop furniture shops. Trust me, they will be your best bet. But, you gotta know what you are looking for. Its just a matter of getting out there and looking.

I dont know where you are located at, so I cant exactly tell you where to go. If you were in So. Cal, I'd have plenty of places to tell you where to go.
