If no, why do you believe what's written in an old book that says the same things? What if Fox News tomorrow said "God spoke from the heavens and commanded it to rain." and then they showed a clip of the sky and a booming voice saying "Let it rain." and all of a sudden you saw the sky get dark and it start to rain.... would this be simply them making this up or would it be real?

Iridium, you make a good point. I believe Julius Caesar existed because his existence is documented in MULTIPLE places as having existed. There are maybe 2 sources for the existance of Christ or God. There is FAR more evidence that Julius Caesar existed than that Jesus Christ did.

I agree with you...people are too quick to believe in things that are in the bible just because somebody says it was written by God.

I don't believe everything the media tells me. As for the talking donkey, look at the results and the words spoken. Its not like the donkey said, "Hey, I'm pretty peckish. Feel like going for pizza?"
He spoke meaningful words to the prophet, saving his life. And yes, God does make it rain.

You are setting up a false dilemma. It's a logical fallacy.

Do you believe that Julius Ceasar existed? How did you confirm this?

The method of confirmation that you might use w/ a news story, is different from that of history.

Since you're so much smarter than people who believe in the Bible, why don't you know this?

No, I don't rely on Fox News for the truth. But, I am very confident in relying on God and His word in the Bible.

Matthew 24:25-27

26"So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.

Great "biblical" story! I always thought that one was way out in left field, Balaam and the talking donkey. Makes you wonder why "God" doesn't use phenomenon's today to help us believe in him.
He doesn't. Rather, according to the Bible and other dogmatic religions, faith is a convenient basis for the religions because it is so extreme and absurd that reasoning and rational thinking would stand in the way of its 'truth'.

Be good.

With God all things are possible, He doesn't have the limitations that we do. When you get to know Him, you can experience personally what He's about. The Bible leads you to Him, from there He shows you Himself how it is. And, believe me, it's pretty awesome.
