And seem to prefer persecuting each other. Christian, Atheist, Muslim etc. There seems to be no room for understanding and a live and let live philosophy. Why?

Not all persecute. Blessed are the peacemakers. May peace and love be with ye.

Because there is a grand design. Heaven on earth is the end result. Jesus is long suffering and Satan's time is short. It is all coming to a culmination. The Bible is interesting even if you don't believe because there are prophecies and they were written 1000's of years ago. If you like fortune telling the bible is so accurate. Especially Revelations. There will never be peace. Until the prophecies are realized.

Because "religion" has taken us all at least partially out of the realm of truth. Religion is defined in some circles as "man's view of God". It seems to have given man what he thinks is "poetic license" in the Word to add to and take from the Word whatever he chooses to accept, add in or throw away some conviction and salvation dogma/theories, and allegorize away the rest into nonsense! It's sad that what WE THINK has come to dominate what we BELIEVE! The Scripture clearly states that there is "One Lord, One faith, One baptism. One God and Father of all who is above all, through all, and in you all". We are ALL going to have to give an account of "every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God", which means that "religion" may not be the answer to how to qualify for Heaven. I believe we should "Search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life" as the Bible says, fellowshipping in the SPIRIT of the Word, not in what WE THINK is right and learning from one another what the basic truths are, researching them in Scriptural evidence and not some manmade "school of thought". We are to be taught in the Word by our parents and by God-called leaders. You ask, "How do you know if a leader is called of God"? Well, the Scripture says, "Many are called, few are chosen" which means that the way they live their lives as examples in front of each other is how their leadership qualities are evidenced.

Because we were created to have a will that means a choice. I am a christian, I choose God. If other people choose other things that is their choice. I understand that is why other people choose other things, but i feel God is the only choice. Some people want to choose death over life. wheather is is out of ignorance, pride, fear, there are a lots of reasons why.

Hate and lack of tolerance , poor perception, wrong interpretation of philosophy of religion are root cause. When these people sit in group they behave nicely. Therefore, intermixing people of different culture will develop understanding.
Persons making hate speeches should be arrested and prosecuted

Most people do understand each other. The ones who don't are the ones you hear about.

Good news is rarely reported in the newspapers and on TV....they only tell us about all the bad stuff.

The biggest joke of all times is that the people don't try to understand themselves in the first place and in the end try to fault others

That is a bit of a generalization. There are some who only think their way is the only way. But then there are those who strive to understand one another and take part in things like inter-faith counsels and have inter-faith church services.

Tear for Fears put it beautifully.....Everybody wants to rule the world.

I believe it is human nature to lust for power. Those who believe that they are closest to God feel the most powerful and that generates pride.

Pride says, "I'm right and you're wrong, and I don't even want to hear what a heathen like you would say to me."

Oh, I guess I just described religion, didn't I?

some of us try to love everyone but there will always be narrowminded people who wont listen. My husband isnt a Christian but I am and he treats me better than the previous husband who goes to church alot. So people need to really listen to the ministers if they want to retain anything and be willing to apologize and learn etc.
