Middle school (i.e. grades 6-8), where students move from class to class, subject to subject; where true preparation for your future college years begin. It is a adventure, a challenge, a new frontier, but you will not be alone, your entire matriculating class from your old school will be with you, plus equally scared students from other elementary schools.
Will you make any mistakes the first day, possibly. Will you be the only one who seems lost, definitely not. Will you be the biggest and the baddest, as you were your last year in elementary school, no. Are there older students who will take joy in harassing younger students, probably. Are the teachers and the school administration aware of this, yes. Will they do everything they can to make the transition easy, definitely. Will anyone notice that you are scared, possibly, but unless you are wearing a sign, it will be hard to standout from the other scared first year middle-schoolers. Will you survive, definitely.
Good luck, have a good school year, keep your chin up, and email me for more advice if you need it.

My daugher starts Middle School this year, too.

I reminded her that 200 other kids are also starting middle school with her. It is an opportunity to meet new people and make new friends.

Also, the first year in Middle School is not as hard as the last year in Elementary. They know that you have a lot of changes going on so they ease up some. Especially the 1st semester.

You will do great!

Keep smiling!

You shouldn't be scared. My wife is a middle school teacher and she says all of her new students are initially nervous. But after the first week or so, you start to make new friends and get use to the routine. Don't worry, you'll have alot of fun this year !

Thing to remember is everyone is just as scared as you are, some people are just better at hiding it. Just relax and know that you are all in the same boat. Be confident and take this opportunity to meet new people. If you run into trouble confide in an adult, a teacher, counsellor or better yet your parents. Good luck and have fun!

I don't know anyone who wasn't scared going into Middle School. Try and be confident, and say Hi to EVERYONE. Don't be intimidated - it's an exciting part of your life! In a couple of weeks you won't know why you were scared!

Sweetie, calm down. You will be just fine. When I started MS I was scared out of my mind. I was a tiny scrawny little girl that didn't even know how to defend herself. Just go with the flow and make friends. Soon enough you'll realize that there was nothing to be afraid of. You should be excited!

Dont be scared. I was very nervous and scared just like you. You'll be fine, and you get more freedom than elementary school.
Just be confident and you'll do well. Maybe you can talk to some of your friends about how they fell. I dont think that you are the only one who is nervous. Good Luck!
