I found three kittens, all flea infested, that were to young for a flea bath. The vet suggested I use Dawn dishwashing liquid. Lather them up and let the Dawn sit on them for 10 minutes, then rinse. Repeat if neccessary.
It worked (though I thought it was a crock of crap at the time) and it's more safe for the animal.
You may have to bug bomb your house also as fleas like to eat and jump off.

You probably need to de-flea your house too. No, I'm not being rude, it's true! If you treat the cat and dog and they are re-infested so quickly, you probably have the rotten little parasites all over the house. Talk to your vet about it and get something appropriate to treat all the carpets and furniture bedding (human and animal). Then get your pets out for the day (ask someone nice to take them away for a few hours!) and have a big blitz on the whole house - vacuum, wash absolutely EVERTHING that can be washed, and spray everything with an appropriate parasite killer. About 15 years ago I was doing volunteer work and helped clear a badly infested house (this was exceptionally bad), we used a spray called Nuvan Staykill, I have no idea if it is still available to buy but it was very effective. As I said, ask your vet, I am sure he/she will have a whole range of things to help.

This is going to take some work on your part. If you are just treating the dog and cat, it is NOT going to get rid of them, because the fleas have laid eggs in the house. What you need to do is:
1.) Vacuum the whole house with a flea collar in the collection area of the vacuum. Then get the dirt out of the house.
2.) Take the dog and cat to someone who can bathe them with flea killing dog and cat shampoo.
3.) Shampoo All the carpets in the house.
4.) Wash All dog and human bedding.
5.) Flea bomb the whole house. Making sure to turn off ALL pilot lights in the house, IE. stove, dryer, water heater, etc.
6.) Get some revolution from your vet for the dog, and see if they have any for the cat. Make sure they are heart worm free before using this product.
7.) After you go back into the house after bombing, vacuum All the carpets again, with a flea collar in the collection area. When done get the dirt collected out of the house.
8.) Spray the yard with flea killer.
After you have done all of this you should not have any more fleas in the house or on the animals.
As for flea collars on animals the natural oils of the animals clog the flea collar so that it doesn't work and is just a waste of money.
I hope this helps. Good luck.

Go to local feed store and ask them for their dipping solutions for dogs and cats (seperate), not petsmart or Wal Mart, then get the yard spread for fleas and ticks from HD at the same time because it will still be there after the dip!
After the dip maintain a supply of Garlic and yeast tablets (from pets mart) to keep the fleas away. Listen it works and there is no bad smell or bad breath or you can add garlic powder to their food once a week 1/2tsp. mix well. Oh if their inside critters do as the others have stated above with the bombing and vacuming and washing, cus if not you just invite them right back in and on you and in bed with you and family, not good or fun!! the pets will be okay for a short time but you'll have to do it all again if you don't GIT ER DONE!!

You should take your animal's to get a flea dip. It's a strong chemical that they wash the animal with but it does hurt them. Then you need to have the house sprayed for flea's. They will give you instuction's on what to do to keep them gone. The flea's also might be from the yard or where ever your animals go out side. You can get the yard sprayed too. I also found that if you take salt and sprinkle it around your house it dry's up the flea's.

To really get rid of fleas you have to Vacuum throughly first. The vacuum creates vibrations that cause any flea eggs to become active, then you bomb the heck out of your place using several foggers. Don't skimp on these. Over do it if you have to. After fogging. Vacuum again. This will suck up any of the dying fleas and cause even more eggs to become active and they will come in contact with the pesticide residue. Vacuum every other day after that point until you no longer see the tell tale signs of fleas (animals scratching, flea poo in their sleeping areas). Do this in addition to using Frontline and you should have it under control in about a week.

Your dog will need a flea bath and your cat will most probably too. Be sure to spray your house with flea getting rid of stuff and put a flea collar in your vacuum bag to kill the fleas that get in there when you vacuum also wash anything your dog and cat sleeps on. Good Luck!

I can't imagine why Advantix and Frontline didn't work? Did you apply them monthly? I live in an area where fleas/ticks can be year-round. I've never had any trouble since I've used Advantix.
Please contact your vet. He is your best source of information on flea control.

Frontline Plus works great, and a product called Capstar works great as well, with the capstar it's a pill that will kill all the fleas on your pet within a half hour (it really works!) HOWEVER capstar is only good for about 12 hours, and doesn't kill baby fleas from hatching the next day. So ask your vet if they carry capstar and I would still cont. with frontline plus. I wouldn't bathe them in dish soap that will harm their skin. Frontline plus is waterproof after 24 hours after applying it.

Bath with flea shampoo, it worked really well for a kitten we got a few years ago who was completely covered in fleas. The stuff we used was called Magic Coat Flea and Tick Shampoo, and it came in an orange bottle. Hope this helps!!!
