***Why is the Bible unclear about how to be saved?
anything more important that the Bible could communicate?
Why is it ambiguous and contradictory on this subject?***

We must realize that The Creator is not the author of confusion. I highly suspect that the confusion and contradiction are man made.

If we take it that we are saved by faith and works, now that can not be far from the truth.

Have a blessed day.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble but there is no God. There is no such thing as "holy" or "sacred" and that includes the Bible. The Bible was written by fallible mortals. One thing that these fallable mortals got right is that we are all fallable. I have my own Bible (my version of the meaning of life). Every individual on the whole planet has their own Bible. What I mean by this is that we all have in our heads lists of Guidance, Beliefs and Simplifications. And everyone's lists are different. Religious leaders and philosophers try to sell us certain lists and many of us buy in to these lists to one degree or another. Churches exist so that large groups of people can help each other to learn similar lists.

I want to share something with you from some of my lists.
1. Don't worry about the future (see your question).
Notice how it feels to be alive in the present moment and make the most of everything that is immediately available to you.
Spend some time each day thinking about what really matters in life.
2. Spend some time each day thinking about how best to overcome some of the problems in your life. Spend some time each day finding ways of keeping your mind empty. And spend some time each day writing something original.
3. Some lists are better than others at delivering happiness to ourselves, to others or to both our ourselves and others. Some lists are rather mixed up causing the ower all sorts of problems (e.g. physical illness, mental illness, anti-social behaviour, criminal behaviour and homelessness). Now all of the current major religions and philosophies in the world are driven by lists that are far from perfect. They work up to a point, but they all work on compromise and some of these compromises are very unholy indeed. And a typical Christian list of Guidance, Beliefs and Simplifications is also not quite as good as it says on the can. Christians say that it's okay to tolerate sh_t in this life because you will be rewarded in another. But they can't prove this hope of theirs. So is it possible that if a Christian finds this life sh_tty, then there is something wrong with his list of filters? The answer is, "Yes". So, in my opinion, many interpretations of Biblical stuff lead to the creation of faulty lists in followers. Some interpretations of Biblical stuff might be life-enhancing. But a lot is not. For many years now, as far as Christianity is concerned, I have been wanting to rescue the baby from the bathwater and this is what I am about to do. My filter lists are so Universal that they bring everyone together even if they have different lists.
Wow.

I believe that there were things that were taken out of, or changed in the bible over time. There are some concepts that have been altered so that people have room to say that to be saved you have to do ____. Each religion believes something a little different on being saved. I believe that it isn't only faith and grace that saves us. We have to live our religion. Faith without works is dead. We can't just expect Christ to say that since we believed in Him that we are saved. Saying it is one thing, showing it is another. We have to live as close to how He lived. Yes, we will screw up, that's just human nature, but the attonement and repentance are there in those cases. That is the grace part of it.

I don't think we can just go through life, not showing love and caring towards others, trying to help as best we can, or following our religion and not be held accountable for those actions. When it talks about believing in him, it isn't just faith. It's your actions that show you do believe in Christ. Just saying you believe isn't good enough.

Jesus said that "Strait is the gate and narrow is the way..." In this statement, "strait" does not mean without bends or turns (spelt straight)- it's spelt like a narrow passage (Strait of Gibralter, Berring Strait, etc).

There is one way, and one way only to be saved. Yes, the Bible has been changed over the years. Sadly this has caused (or allowed?)the great variety in Christianity.

In James 1:5, James speaks to all Christians and advises those who lack wisdom to ask God in faith. I'd recommend the same. One thing the Bible is very clear on- God wants us to obtain salvation. He will answer your sincere prayers. Best of luck

I am not Christian.
And the bible is a dizzying work of contradiction, however, the
bible is very clear on a few things:

"No man shall come unto the Father but by me." - Jesus

I dont see much to interpret there.

Christ has pretty much fulfilled all of the requirements of salvation, as many have mentioned above. How do we become part of this salvation (the heart of your question) is answered here:

"Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned." - Mark 16: 16

This is actually a longer topic that can be expounded on further, but for your question, the verse above should be sufficient.

It is actually very clear.

1. Recognize you are a sinner and need Jesus. (Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God)

2. Accept Christ and you will be saved. (Act 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved)

3. Salvation is a gift from God and NO works you will ever do will give you admission into heaven for all eternity. (Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.)

It is people who complicate the plan of salvation. Jesus said his yoke is easy and his burden light. It is not meant to be something we agonize over.

Really it's not unclear. You just have to rightly divide the word of God. Acts2:38-40 is your key scripture on how to be saved. This is what Jesus commissioned his disciples to do. Matt 28:19 The key word in this verse is THE NAME of the father, son, and Holyghost is Jesus. (father, son and Holyghost are titles)

The bible is not unclear on how to be saved. Jesus told us directly in Luke, chapter 10.

25On one occasion an expert in the law stood up to test Jesus. "Teacher," he asked, "what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
26"What is written in the Law?" he replied. "How do you read it?"

27He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"

28"You have answered correctly," Jesus replied. "Do this and you will live."

Jesus told us directly that loving God and loving your neighbor is the way to inherit eternal life. "Do this and you will live", he said. It doesn't get any simpler than that. However, such simplicity does not suit the power and control ambitions of many mortal men and so Jesus' simple message of salvation became convoluted and complicated so people would "need" the church and its leaders to "interpret" God's message for us.

It isn't ambiguous it's quite plain, you refuse to hear it.

Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jhn 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
