There are so many I don't think we can even count them. New ones sprout up all the time.

The question can only be answered briefly by saying they are at different levels of growth. Apollos was educated in the scriptures, but did not know all the scriptures (Acts 18:24-28), and was educated by Aquila and Priscilla. The 'Catholic' faith has some books (of the Bible) many Protestant groups do not have. (Email me regarding this issue if one wants more info on it). There are Books regarding the differences between denominations.

http://www.adherents.com/ has a list of known sects.

By the time you get done reading through it there will probably be several more added to the list.

Baptists, Church of God and Pentecostals etc.. are the ones that take the Bible seriously, ergo they are the most morally repugnant.

Instead of worrying about the different sects why don't you just try reading the Bible for yourself...like you would any other book.

"Let us read the Bible without the ill-fitting colored spectacles of theology, just as we read other books, using our own judgment and reason, listening to the voice within, not to the noisy babel without. Most of us possess discriminating reasoning powers. Can we use them or must we be fed by others like babes?" [Luther Burbank].

"The best cure for Christianity is reading the Bible." [Mark Twain]

You gotta be kidding, there are well over a hundred in the Netherlands alone! Some differ on major things, like the position of saints, others literally over one verse. It needs really deeper study, not just a short list, to tell them apart.

Here's a website that states all the christian religions and what each one believes briefly. I'm sure there are more out there then are even stated here, but it's a pretty good list.

Denominations are a matter of the differences in all of us and complex humans, otherwise Christianity is ONE.

There are so many denominations it isn't funny.
What I find even funnier is that some of these denominations go against the teachings of the Bible.

I recommend a book...."Religion for Idiots".....it has a synopsis of all the religions you can imagine. I've had it for a few years but I still refer back to it occasionally.

Great question if you are trying to educate yourself on religion, but if you are more interested ina relationship with the Creator of the universe, just tell Him - it's that simple and He will make Himself real to you.
