I believe it is known as divining. Everyone has heard of the water diviner at some stage or other but the art of divining itself, goes far back into the dim and distant past. Ancient shamanic peoples were highly sensitive to change in their environment. In the absence of modern technology, they learned to rely completely on their own powers of observation and sensitivity and on those of the animals, which were studied in great detail. They knew that everything had a distinctive energy field associated with it. It is their methods of finding and reading these fields which have come down to us as dowsing or divining. Until very recently every locality had at least one diviner to locate the water lines for wells. These talents were also put to a myriad of other tasks, from seeking missing animals and resolving petty crime, to finding lost objects ,minerals and ores. Today, divining skills are also used in widely varied disciplines, from finding water and searches, through to allergy testing, homeopathy and medical diagnosis.

Tie a thread on your ring finger and suspend a pendulum in it, then keep something below it and let the pendulum Will start rotating anti clock wise or clock wise................anticlockwise is a no to your question whereas clockwise is a yes for an answer

To really experience this you have to do meditation and concentrate on the question, and after a few days or week you will see it works wonders

The concept of the pendulum tells us that life keeps moving, times may be good or bad, but things change and all things turn and move to the center. So conditions may be enduring, but they will change. Our faith is reassured that time heals. Although things move back and forth, life comes back to count the same circle, history repeats and life goes on.

Well I saw a show once and they just swung it gently and then asked the spirit to show them the direction or spell out a word and then the pendulum goes in that direction. Hope I've helped.
