For about two months now, I wake up with a hoarse voice and even throughout the day seem to be hoarse as well. I don't feel sick at all and wonder why this is. Anyone with any ideas?????

Got a cat? dust? rag weed?... I have the same thing when it's allergy season. We recently moved to a new home and there's a field behind us. I had the same symptoms as you for the first few months until all the pollen was finished in the air. This was a hot summer where I live and so the pollen just hung in the air. I use to think this symptom was because of cats but I now don't have a cat. I now know that the feeling of little shards of glass in my eyes was an allergy to the cat..
Anyway.. so ya.. it's likley allergies but see your doctor.

I’m a pharmaceutical rep (so definitely NOT a doctor) and I promote a drug called prevacid. It is a heartburn and ulcer medicine. You could possibly have reflux and have atypical symptoms. When you lay flat at night the acid may be coming up to your esophagus and overtime it can damage your vocal cords...hence the hoarse throat. Have you or a family member had a history of heartburn or ulcers? You should first call your doctor and let them take a look at your throat. They will be able to tell if you are having reflux or not. With the right medicine you can alleviate this problem…just be patient and committed to taking your medicine long term…this condition does not go away like a cold, but is very manageable and very common!

Well, it could be something as simple as allergies.

BUT, not to scare you, I read about a certain kind of cancer in your throat or vocal chords that has no symptoms (pain, etc...) except for a hoarse voice.

You should go to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialist and get checked out, just to be safe.

Good luck!

Do you happen to have a fan blowing over you at night? Sometimes a constant breeze blowing over you will cause that to happen..
