I am looking at one for my 16 year old, but don't know much about them. Are they pretty good cars, or are they lemons?

i've had 2 and they were both awesome
you didn't say how old it is, but i have some advice in that area. we always bought older cars for our kids' first cars, because they WILL have fender benders and bumps in their first year of driving. that way they don't have to feel too guilty when they mess up.
i also always stressed to my kids (4 of them) to realize that when you are driving a car at 50 or 60 or 70 mph, your body is hurtling through space at that rate of speed. obey the speed limits - they were made by engineers who study the roads and want to keep you safe.

As long as its 2000 and newer it will be a good first car for someone 16.
