The population of the earth is approximately 6.5 billion and increasing quickly, see:
http://www.ibiblio.org/lunarbin/worldpop/index.html
However, the rate of population increase has been declining over the last 30 years (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:World_population_increase_history.svg) and therefore the population of the world is expected to reach a peak by the 2050s, after which point there will be a decline in population due to greater death rates than birth rates.
It is also possible that before that point over-population results a huge crash because there will not be enough basic resources like food to support the population. But in my view this is unlikely since food is a renewable resource.

One. Me.
I am the last surviving member of the human race following nuclear war and am currently plugged into a computer in an underground alien bunker. They're carrying out tests to see how humans behave and react to different situations.
As far as you're concerned (even though you're a figment of my electronically manipulated imagination) the answer is 6,525,486,603.
