on 8/8/06 I lost my bestfriend/brother. He went through some dark times in his short life, but managed to find God and straighten out his life. I have never been much of a believer as I had doubts about talking to someone that no one has proven to be real. But since the death of my brother my faith is ever strong in God. I want to believe that Keith is in heaven and can't if I don't believe in God myself. I have prayed to God every night since his death and have begun to continue reading the bible that I put down 2 years ago and quit. Do you think God cares what I have to say and pray about now that my brother is gone and I believe or is he's saying I'm sol for doubting him until my brother's death.

Yes, God is listening to you. God was listening to you even when you did not believe in Him.

Read the parable of the prodigal Son. The father had been waiting for his son to return the entire time his son was gone. Notice how the father saw his son returning from afar and ran out to greet him.

It is perfectly fine to turn to God when we are in sorrow. Sometimes that is what it takes for us to begin trusting in God. I am glad you are back.

Contact me if you want to discuss further.

the thing I've learned about God (and just recently too!!!) is that God is ALWAYS there, and will always be there. it's just us who come forward, and then fall away...but no matter what, He is there. wanting, waiting for us to come to him. there are things in this world that are causing you to Feel He is there, that are pushing you to Him, such as your love for your brother. you are very wonderful person to be able to learn to have faith in God AFTER the horrible circumstance w/ ur brother; many people would curse Him and blame Him for what happened.

I believe that whatever you need and can do to be Positive, Happy, and Healthy will help you to learn and grow and seek what you need in life. therefore, your need to feel that God is listening, is valid. people who think "i hate God or anyone else because so and so happened" are never going to be positive, are never going to be able to Get Better...and so, you cannot let yourself lose hope and doubt yourself. remember to keep anything positive, healthy and happy around you. filter out the negatives, the sadness, the hurt, the anger.

what i learned recently was Romans 5-8 (don't worry.. i don't read the bible daily, i do go to bible study, but it doesn't mean u are Any worse or better than someone else!). and in Romans, it says that once you accept Jesus Christ as your savior, you are Justified --> NOT GUILTY. therefore, all the past, present and future sins that you will do, or have done, are all washed away. you are forgiven. even for ur future mistakes!!! so knowing that, and truly accepting and Rejoicing in that and thanking God for that, you are now capable of living life, day by day, learning, growing, and seeking Truth. Hope. Happiness. EVEN THOUGH u may slip up sometimes, forget to read the bible, forget to pray..that doesn't matter. what Does matter is your focus on trying to do what is right. *trying*. we are human, and God knows that we are not perfect. that is why He sent Jesus Christ to cover our sins. therefore, all we need to do is Try to do our best...and that is Good Enough. Jesus takes care of the rest. therefore, u are now FREE to focus on the POSITIVE things in life, the good things u have done, and learn from the negative and bad things u have experienced. when u learn from it, u can let it go without resentment, anger, hurt, shame, disappointment. that is what i believe God WANTS from us..not to feel bad about ourselves for being "bad christians" or whatever..that is so not the point of christianity. all people are gonna make mistakes... the important thing is to truly accept and be thankful, and do what we think is Right, Honest, Loving, Caring, Good, Positive...all those things. the negatives are there but we must not dwell on them..that is what Jesus came for, to stop us from dwelling on the sins. :) so be thankful and happy for your life, and your time with your brother, and the family and friends u have in ur life now... u can always BECOME a wonderful person, even if u were "awful" the day before. THAT, i believe, is the good news of the bible. :) good luck, and take care always~

God always listens to you. You can call it God, the Universe, whatever, but in this sense there is a stronger force, greater than us, that knows all that we don't and connects everything. And it's always there, and always listening to you and your wants.

Your brother is fine. If anything, I think he'll be watching you and sending you good energy so you go on with your life here, and keep on loving him forever. In fact, in a way I do think that people never leave us completely. You could still feel him if you relaxed and payed attention.

This is my opinion anyway - and you're talking about religion which is a very controversial topic, because I can't prove all that I've said.

Warmest regards, may you feel your brother with you forever

I think it is important that you believe God is listening to you. I doubt that God has been checking his watch waiting for you to come around and believe in him. People arrive at different places in their lives at different times. Four years ago, I lost my husband and my father in the space of four months. The two things that got me through and brought me out the other side were my faith in God and my strong belief that I was going to be OK again.

God IS listening to you. He'll accept you if you're honest about it, just ask to be forgiven, and accept christ into your heart. He loves you, as much as it doesn't seem that way sometimes. And everyone doubts- even some of the 'best christians'. Doubt is a part of faith. Find someone you can talk to about this. A pastor, preist, or some religious adult. This really helped me.

Good luck.

Sorry about your bestfriend/brother.

But... you shouldn't believe in something that's never proven its existence to you. If you prayed that God would prove himself, and "He" didn't, what's the point in believing "Him"? If "He" never proves "His" existence, then unfortunately, there is no heaven (and fortunately no hell) also.

This could be a good thing, though. If you know there's no heaven or hell, it means there's absolutely no chance he can go to hell.

But of course, if you're ABSOLUTELY SURE that there's heaven or hell, and you know your bestfriend/brother has a great chance in getting in heaven, then that's great. I have yet to have seen "God's" existence. Or at least know that he exists with proof.

I've had close relatives die too, and not from natural deaths, so I know how you feel...

Well, good luck.

I am sorry for your loss.

Yes, God cares about you and what you have to say. God is always listening, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, you can be sure of that.

Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need - Hebrews 4:16

God Bless

So let's see, he finds God, straightens his life out and then dies. Either God is a total prick, or it's bad coincidence? I'm sorry for your loss, but does it really matter whether he's floating in the air with a bunch of angels playing their stupid harp in his ear or if he has no consciousness and all that's left of him is a body in the ground? Really, it doesn't, because you're still down on earth thinking about him either way. Also, either way, he's happy.

God's always listening, but you have to press through in prayer until you get an answer from God. The answer might be to your liking, the answers might be to your displeasure, but either way if you keep praying day after day you will get answer.

And God has purposely made it so He cant be proven by science. There's evidence all over this world we live in of His handywork. But God doesnt want us to believe in Him becuase scientist can prove Him. But He prefers you to believe in Him through faith, prayer, and patience.

God listens to all His children and you can be certain He is hearing you. You can talk to Him and tell Him you are having trouble believing in Him and just speak from the heart and know He is there for you always, you just need to turn to him, even in your disbelief because He knows your heart. It is His will that not one of His children be lost. Pray for trust and faith and it will be given to you. I'm sorry for your loss and I pray God may grant you His peace and comfort and that Mary our Blessed Mother will lead ever closer in love and understanding to her son Jesus.
