The 36" - 26 pound blue cat on my picture was taken on 1/3 of a shad about 8 inches long. I cut it up into 3 pieces and used it as cut bait. The bait was down for about 30 seconds before that one took off with it. Catsfish love fish. I would use some cut shad or live large minnows. Back hook them so they still move around and make sure you fish the deep pockets, points and any underwater structure you can find. During the day cats bite just as good as at night but you have to find them. Normally they'll be in the deep pockets or channels or if you have undercut banks they hiude in there sometimes. The rule I follow is if you don't get a bite or something move on. Work the entire river that you can. They are there you just have to find them. If you want to stick with liver use the chicken and put it in a panty hose bag just big enough to nake about a 2" ball and tie it off around the top of the shank of your hook. It'll keep the bait in place and does double duty as a chum bag. good luck and tight lines!

i have fished for catfish in distinct states and make a "common" bait that looks to artwork everywhere. Take an empty mayonaisse jar and upload some mushed up blue cheese, into that pour the blood from a equipment of hen Gizzards and integrate it up properly. position the hen gizzards on treble hooks (with leaders connected) and push them down into the blue cheese leaving the leaders mind-blowing out of the jar. gently tighten the lid so that you do not damage the leaders and sit down it out in the nice and comfortable sunlight for 40 8 hours. once you open it, don't have your face close to it!!! supply it a attempt, it fairly works tremendous! yet another trick we used as youngsters (and it won't be able to be felony in some factors) became to spend an afternoon in the exterior capturing jackrabbbits. pores and skin them out and position them in a burlap bag alongside with some rocks. Tie the bag close, take it on your sought after cove the position you fish for cats, and toss it in so as that it sinks. The catfish are attracted through the fragrance path and bypass into the area, noticeably at nighttime and lay on the bag sucking on it. Fish that section and also you'll discover an excellent form of sturdy sized catfish.
