$10 an hour full time will gross you $20800. That is still well below the poverty line. I am a stay at home mom for now but when I return to work I will be making substantially more than that and I feel as though I am worth it. But as one person said higher wages also fuels inflation. So the cost of a big mac will probably go up.

What is exactly the minimum wage??? When I entered the workforce it was $3.35 hr. I didn't mind. Because I was freakin' 16 years old with no education and no skills. Wake up people!!! The minimum wage was not meant to live off of. It is an entry level wage for people just like I was back then for a little weekend partying money. No more, no less. If you are attempting to "live" off a minimum wage job, you need to get off your **** get educated. I did, and now I make over 60 grand a year. I don't care if you are a single mom with 10 kids at home. There are government programs out there where you can make it happen. Just because you bust your rump digging ditches in 100 degree heat all day doesn't mean you deserve to make $10.00 an hour. Hard labor has never, ever in the history of the world paid big money unless some skills came along with it. Minimum wage should be and should stay at $5.00 an hr. PERIOD!!!

Their shouldn't be another minimum wage increase for awhile. I believe this because people weren't intended to be living off of jobs that high school kids or foreign exchange students could be doing. Furthermore, most of the low wage jobs now are only part time anyway. So the argument of a "living wage" goes out the window there.
If you say $10.00 is fair, another person might disagree and say $15.00 is fair. Where does it end? That big mac you want to buy could end up costing you $25.00 because of raising the minimum wage! The price of labor will simply be passed on to the consumer.

I'm worth more but where I live some people doing min wage don't deserve much. The customer service I get is, "Uh (scratch, scratch) watcha want. Uh-Huh." Then after they look at you with their eyes saying "go away, don't bother me, i'm not here to work" they will ever so slowly walk or do whatever you requested. In other words, people here are fat and lazy and don't want to work. Why pay them more for NOT doing their job? Of course, cost of living is very low where I live. I'm sure $10 an hour in a big city wouldn't cut it. So...depends on the person, job, location, etc.

haha my duties at my job are worth at least $15/hr, then having to put up with the attitudes of the lawyers and staff is worth about $10/hr. So if you ask me, MY job is at least worth $26/hr. Now for minimum wage, I would say that $10 is still just barely cutting it. The price of everything has already gone up, so the minimum wage should have been uped a long time ago.

Yes the marketplace has decided I am worth more than $10 a hours over 20 years ago.
My husband has been worth more than $40 a hour for over 16 years.
Education, education, training, training, training. He is 1 year short of his degree but made himself worth $40 a hour through hard worth & training. Do you want to work for minimum age - what ever that is? It is not a good life!

If illegals are being paid $15.00 an hour for construction in my state, without any taxes being paid out, I think legal Americans should be worth more than $7.00 and hour since they have to pay taxes out of that. Minimum wage isn't even considering $10.00 and hour.

I'm worth more. Being a stay at home mom means I don't get a paycheck or vacation or sick days. Yet I am the nanny, maid, chauffeur, pet sitter and the chef. I think I deserve at least $11 an hour. LOL Ha ha ha...LOL

For an hour of my life spent beneath the scorching sun and through the freezing winter? You bet!
Though around here it'll only go up to $6.50 or so.
