If it were a democrat that got in in '08... you can almost be sure of it....they would run as far away from the middle east as they could....but while they are trying too run from the middle east some terrorist is running right at him/her with a bomb strapped too his/her @$$!

Kudo's to Decoy Duck for laying it all out there. We're not going to be safe from terrorist attacks until we kill ALL the terrorists, and I hate to say it, their children as well. Terrorists breed terrorists. The minute we pull out of Iraq, that place is going to slide right into a civil war, with Iran backing the bad guys. How many more Americans are going to have to die ON AMERICAN SOIL for you people to get a clue??? The terrorists aren't going to stop blowing us up until we're all dead, or they're all dead, whichever comes first. I say we need to take preemptive action against these religious zealots, instead of hitting them with missiles AFTER they've blown up something here in America. Any of you who think otherwise, who think that they'll leave us alone as long as we pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan, are living in a little fantasy bubble.

I think that Bush has hurt us as a nation. He has started the fighting with the middle east and now we are going to be subjected to lots of things for a while. I hope that the next president will help the situation rather than make it worse. Oh and if you are still thinking that the middle east attacked us first with 9-11, think again! That was staged by our government. If you look at the information, you will logically see that there is no way that we were told the truth. But, like most americans, you will think that I am crazy to think that the government would do that to us. But they did whether you want to believe it or not.

The next president can't "run" away from the middle east as long as they provide us with so much of our oil and Israel exists.

Nope. Can't. Bush and his cronies have screwed it up so bad we'll be in Iraq for sometime to come. But what they can do is come up with a more realistic way of handling everything other than Bush's misguided belief that everything is rosy over there.

They will try - it is unpopular. When the next 9/11 happens, they will find ignoring a lion will get you eaten.

well, i think it is not mainly a partisanship issue
but of course, the democrat may want to pull out of that area faster
george.w.bush say things like
weapon of mass destruction in iraq and possible terrorism affiliation
or at least potentially(in case the Russia,France and China in particular is seeking to urge UN to disarm the embargo and stop sanction, saddam hussine, as a resourceful leader who is patiently waiting for the chance, is willing and absolutely capable of making even the UN inspection and aftermath US forces get no such evidence)
but even though that is the truth, the goal of finding and eliminating the weapon of mass destruction is achieved, and the US force presence there is a waste of resource and growing domestic and global sentiment
there are other concern obviously, like the domestic insurgency, , and iran nuclear issue
1)the domestic insurgency and foriengn terrorists is actually the fight over the flexibility over the strength, the so called flexibility is actually like a human sensible in eyes, smart in head, fast in speed, not strength, few casualty caused by, as everyone can see, the gunfire which is open and closed face to face, in other words, if you can see them, identify who are the enemy, where are they, and get there promptly, they do not need too much troops, the force is dynamic, or they have to divert part of the troops for logistic supply line maintainance, the rest combat force need some level of overlapping in operation in bringing down the danger, and push many troops into the downtown where terrorists lurks among civilians, US soldiers in that case are open and live target, making no difference from using the iraqis which are cheaper, legal, and much less politically problematic, and also finally i firmly believe the insurgency or terrorist cannot be fully annihilated even though very high forces is there, and they can be controlled to certain level even when the US troop number is not very high, big problem(like9.11)is not easy(but possible)happening, and even though they use very high forces, the insurgent will not dramatically bring down, but spending will drastically increase, and the key is how to accelerating the training and equipement of the capable iraqis( a miserable number from whitehouse whitepaper tell me that such figure is even quantitatively smaller than the US forces today)a lot of friend tell me the demoratic gov take care of 3 particular issues, deficit or even creating surplus in federal gov, healthcare and social security, while bush take care of hurliburton, the budget will force them make a choice based on no sacraficing national security, and thus democratic will seeks to repair relation with Europe
i am not speaking so in a anti-US position, actually i have resentment a little bit over many deeds personally on the United States, in my country, we are against the war because we think the US is our enemy, and the enemy's enemy is our friend, thus we are against the war, but those of you living inside the United States as native American shall think differently, this is not preaching but just what i personally believe to be the counsel on a neutral perspective, or perspective thinking on side of US
it is a wise idea that american governement and military shall dramatically and systematically withdraw very large number of troops from this country, starting from those least cost-effective and vulnerable forces based on certain standard, but not to withdraw them home, instead, withdraw them in certain area simultaneously border with several countries, watching but not acting, when the active force is in danger, it can push into there and rescue, making this force dynamic in checking and preparing readiness but not act to bring down spending and danger of the soldiers, and bringing higher deterrence but not hot war to iran to somewhat make iran rethink there strategy over there nuclear ambition

I hope not. Please read the following for clarity:

AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP!

That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed -AD) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been "Get Out of Bed!" In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.

It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran . This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency. The attack on this sovereign U. S. embassy set the stage for events tofollow for the next 25 years.

America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam
experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism.

America 's military had been decimated and down sized /sight sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start. Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East . America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US soil continued.

In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was
driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more.

Then just six short months later in 1983 a large truck heavily
laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.

Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with
explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait , and America continues her slumber.

The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the US Embassy in Beirutlain and America slept.

Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe . In April 1985 a bomb
explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid .

Then in August 1985 a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked.

Fifty-nine days later in 1985 a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is
hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.

The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie , Scotland in1988, killing 259.

Clinton treated these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are still trying to bring these people to trial. These are acts of war. The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder.

The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America . In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley , Virginia .

The following month, February 1993, a group of terrorists are
arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war? The Snooze alarm is depressed again.

Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh Saudi Arabia killing seven.

A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes
only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran , Saudi Arabia . It destroys the Khobar Towers , a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively.

They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania .. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.

The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden , Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000, when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.

And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most
Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America . How wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back tosleep.

In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every
high officials in government over what they knew and what they
didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew. You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979.

I think we have been in a war for the past 25 years and it will
continue until we as a people decide enough is enough. America
needs to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has been changed forever.. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep.

After the attack on Pearl Harbor , Admiral Yamamoto said "... it
seems all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant." This is the message we need to disseminate to terrorists around the world.

This is not a political thing to be hashed over in an election
year this is an AMERICAN thing. This is about our Freedom and the Freedom of our children in years to come.
