My faith is what makes and keeps me sure.

It's kind of a misleading question, since by definition, "faith" cannot exist without the possibility of doubt and contradiction.

If I'm not mistaken, you are asking how people can be so secure in the faith, or maybe how people can be so rooted in their faith. It's a bit different for everyone, but for me, it's something that just "clicks." I'm educated, I am open to learning about other cultures and religions and the truths that can be learned from them, but there is something about being Catholic that just resonates deep down in me. That doesn't mean I agree with all the man-made laws of the Catholic Church, but the core of the faith and its expression are such a perfect fit for me that I have never felt the need to leave.

Faith is hope in things unseen. Without faith, there is no hope. With faith life has no meaning because a person cannot see any sort of an end to anything that he does. Faith is hope that is accepted without evidence, evidence that is hoped for. This is explained in Romans chapter 8 and in Hebrews chapter 11. Even a scientist must have faith in his experiments before the results are generated. Jesus loves you.

You cannot be sure about your faith, and for that reason alone it is faith, it is being sure of yourself, and having faith that the Lord, or whatever it is you believe in, is there with you. Your faith is impossible to define, because defining it makes it tangible, and faith is an idea expressed through the heart, the mind, and the soul. As hokey as all that sounds. Faith as in denomination? the only way to figure that out is to try other churches. Keep your mind open.

No one can be sure about their faith. That's why it's called "faith" or a "belief".

That's one of the major things that separates us from the other living beings on this planet...We question as to why and how and where do we come from...We question and speculate and pray and hope;... but no one knows for sure. That's why there are so many different religions. If a religion would know for sure...we would all practice that one religion.

I'm sure we don't know...and that is what I practice; "The I don't know religion". And you know what...it isn't scary, it doesn't tie you down...you aren't trapped in silly rituals. You just live with the philosophy not to harm anyone and enjoy life....that's enough for me and I'm glad because I'm sure I don't know.

If you're speaking of faith in religion, you can't be sure. That's blind faith and it's completely unsubstantiated and nebulous. It has to be that way because it's the only way religious people can truly defend their lifestyle.

Real faith is based on experience and confidence that what has happened will happen in the future. It's trust, and trust doesn't pop into existence from nowhere, not unless it's just wishful thinking.

Heb 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Eph 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Eph 2:9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

God is the author and finisher of our faith. And, He will never forsake us.

As a christian there are things that must be bedrock belief or faith and that is that Jesus Christ must be Lord and Saviour http://www.carm.org/doctrine/100truths.htm
This faith is based on the fact that God spoke thru Moses, prophets, and the apostles and that these individual books of the bible were assembled with the greatest care and under the influence of God above.

The important lesson from all of scripture the Holy Spirit wants us in a true abiding relationship with the Father Himself, and walk with Him thru the time frame that He has given each and everyone of us.

When we realize the above and it gets assimilated into our soul we can be sure of our faith, and proceed thru life on safe ground.

If you have faith, then you can be sure of it. Faith is what makes you defend various spiritual movements. If you believe, and you want to have faith, then you do. Just believe. Everyone has doubts periodically, but eventually your faith will erase those doubts. Keep believing!

A combination of life experiences, study, and the way I have interpreted the evidences I see in the world around me convince me that my faith is right.
I believe that the Holy Spirit has witnessed to me that I am on the right path to heaven.
The miracle of the birth of my two children convinces me that there is a power greater than humanity.
It's hard to really quantify and justify faith. it's the catch-22 of religion and all things spiritual.
