Generally speaking, when you jog or run you burn approximately 100 calories per mile, no matter how fast you go. If you run on an incline (uphill), you can increase that a little.
However, the calories you burn during the exercise are not as important as the muscle you build. By strengthening your muscles (not bodybuilding or bulking up, just strengthening), you can increase your metabolic rate. That way, you will burn more calories when you are just sitting at your desk at work.
To do this, try interval training. Instead of just jogging for 30 minutes at a certain pace, you do "sprints." For example, warm up with 10 minutes of slow jogging. Then run for 2 -3 minutes at a very fast pace. Then jog slowly or walk for 2 -3 minutes. Then repeat that several times. Studies have shown that interval training is more effective exercise than just doing cardio.
Also, do some kind of upper body work in your workout. Maybe buy some 5 pound hand weights, or just do sit ups and push ups. You need to work your arms, back and middle too.

Well, it really depends on how many calories you are taking in. I have learned that 3500 calories is equal to 1 lb. So i try to cut out 500 calories from my diet every day. So you could try working off anywhere from 100 to 500 calories a day and you could lose up to 2 lbs a week. But if you aren't trying to lose any weight, then don't worry about the calories and just don't walk at a liesurely pace for 15 min. Speed things up a bit and get up to a brisk walk for possibly 30 min and a slower one for the first 5 and last 5 min. I don't know how advanced your treadmill is, but i always like going up a hill. You can change the treadmill so that there is a slope and it is like walking up a hill.

Start off with 30 minutes a day at a brisk pace. You can build up to a longer period as you go. Thirty minutes of walking burns around 250 calories.

In one hour of walking on a slight incline, at 3.0 miles per hour, my treadmill says I burn about 450 calories. My treadmill helped me lose 35 pounds in 2.5 months. Good luck to you!
