physically. But he means I seem too uptight and quiet around other people. He & his fam/ friends are kinda loud and talkative and I'm not. It always seems like I'm the "quiet one" who's not enjoying herself- but I am! I'm just naturally quiet "speak when spoken to" type of person. How do I open up?

well i know where ur bf is coming from
my x x gf was talkative not loud but always spark up convo with my family and friends
my x gf she never spoke and was the type that only spoke when spoken too
i didnt like that because i the type that loves a woman that could interact with my friends and family
and she didnt
she only spoke when spoken too
she never started a convo on her own and that s not cool
because in the eyes of many people
people may take it as u r not interested in gettin to know them
and too be honest that makes sense
when u mention u and ur bf do everything together
obviously u took the time to get to know him
u askd questions, u talk
so how come u cant interact with his family and friends

just chip in any conversation they might have, as in just add a few sentences now and then to the conversation. but be sure to tell ur bf that u r naturally the quiet type and are really enjoying the time u spend with him even though u r rather mute throughout

Talk to his friends and family one-on-one, you'll be more comfortable than in a crowd. If he's not happy that you're not the "life of the party" type, then forget him, he's the one who's being critical and controlling and needs to "loosen up"

I am the same way but what i do is kinda pretend im with my own family and friends and i try to match the obnoxious behavior. it does take some time to get use to it but that way the family wont think you think your better than them or that you dont like them so i say just go with the flow and try to become more accomidating toward their behavior, whats the saying if you cant beat them join them.

im similar,and can relate immensly.umm try doing something less forced in the fun department like rockclimbing.endorphins from anything like that will make a difference long term.i suggest u watch some of those dateing competition shows for good ideas of out of the ordinary things to do.

my bf feels the same way about me.. that i'm a bit to shy and i don't speak up enough..
its hard.. to do.. being a shy quiet person..
but bit by bit i try..
i think being a more outgoing person takes some time and practice (sounds silly).. but the more you talk.. the more comfortable and easy it will be.. :) so take it day by day..

It sounds to me like he's the one with the problem. You're just being you and if he can't deal with that then he can't deal with you. It's time to either ask him to accept you for you or dump him and move on girl. This is comming from a guy by the way.

Just be yourself let no one change u, change on your own. U cannot loosen up because it is being force upon u, with time u will grow out of it.

u can't change who u are...if ur bf doesn't respect that u are a quiet person around other people then u shouldn't be together
