I got married in St. Thomas in a place called Emerald Beach near the airport, very inexpensive.
We firs flew into San Juan, caught 7 day cruise there to the islands. Fist stop was in St. Thomas. We took a taxi to the court house first to sign legal documents. After that we went to the hotel for the official ceremony and got married on the sandy beach. Nothing more crazy than drinking cold champagne in 90 degree weather. After that we purchased a bottle of the Virgin Islands Cruzam Rum went back to the cruise and started our party. No family, no expensive wedding, a lot of fun however!
Good luck! Not a fancy hotel but we where staying in the cruise ship anyhow. here is a web link to the hotel site.

I'm sure you can find someplace closer than the Cayman Islands or the Bahamas to find something "exotic". I'm in California and we have places like Monterey and Carmel-By-The-Sea that are just as romantic. Do a google search for places like that in Ohio...I'm sure you can find something.
And besides, you don't have to worry about flying anywhere...lol!

The beaches of the Bahamas are awesome! Trust me I know... I'm partial to Nassau, because my twins are there, but there are a number of out islands that would be romantic and great for a wedding. i.e. Cat Island, or Eleuthera, which has pink sand!

What ever you do, pay the money to go somewhere quiet and up-market. I have seen people get married in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic when I was there and it looked cheap and tacky. Walking by the swimming pool towards the veranda on the beach being cheered by a hotel full of fat half naked Canadians is not my idea of a wedding.
Bora Bora on the other hand though.......

Perhaps it is unknown but Bermuda is an extraordinary place of beauty that has many arches overlooking its coral reefed Atlantic that are meant for weddings. This is something I strongly rec as it is so uncommon and it is only off the coast of the Carolinas--not as far as horrible Florida. Bermuda has so many things that are only there. It is VERY clean, has caves, tree frogs, beautiful aqua water, an old iron light house and is a truly one of a kind place. The food is yummy but EXPENSIVE.
No, I do not work for the tourist board but visited its pink sand beaches and loved it.

In the Florida Keys. It is a very nice place, calm and peace full. Another place that's worth the trip is El Conquistador in Puerto Rico, it has it's own private island and the best resort any one will ever see (check it out)

does it have to be "exotic"? I went to 17 mile drive in Monterey, CA and they were having a wedding on the beach and I told my husband that if I could do it over, I would get married there. It's a private beach and the sand is WHITE. It's so beautiful...

Do you've any pals or kin that stay close to a sea coast or on the water? in case you do you would possibly want to continuously ask them to allow you get married there. you also could have a picnic or cookout reception. rather of doing authentic vegetation, have synthetic ones or you would possibly want to carry one authentic flower, like a lengthy stem rose or something else that incorporates a lengthy stem. basically as long as you've 2 witnesses you don't desire to funds in a bridesmaid and groomsman. Plus you do not ought to positioned on a gown and tuxedo, you would possibly want to detect a fairly gown and your groom might want to positioned on a linen tournament or white blouse and shorts/pants. you would possibly want to easily purchase known wedding ceremony decorations and once you're carried out you may donate them or save them. sturdy success and Congrats!
