Because there are so many people who abuse the power of "calling rape" (or other acts of crime) when it didn't really happen. Too many times people will say something happened and the person who is actually innocent gets locked up and things just escalate! They may not want to be seen as someone who likes to cause trouble. They may feel that people will believe that he or she deserved it and it didn't really happen. Many times people don't want to be perceived as weak or have all the attention brought to them. They may also be afraid the person will hurt them and that the judicial system cannot really protect them. They may also be trying to protect their families. These are some reasons why people do not report crime to the authorities.

Sometimes they are scared. Sometimes embarrassed. Sometimes they are just in denial. There are many reasons. In today's society, there is a fine line between abuse and not abuse. Sometimes you just make excuses as to why it isn't abuse. The best thing to do if you think you have been abused is talk to someone. Anyone. Even though you love the person who is abusing you. Abusers need help. If you really love them, maybe going sending them to jail will help them. At least there they can start to get the help they need. I feel sorry for most people who abuse others. They have a problem and it needs to be addressed and fixed.

It's probably because they think that if they don't say it, then it didn't happen and it will all get better. They don't want to relive it. It probably hurts them. I know that it really doesn't help, but they have been psycologically scarred and they need time to heal. the best thing to do is just be patient and caring.

I hate to tell you... they are usually scared... you need to realize that person has been taken down to the level of a dog.... subhuman. Also remember when the abuser gets a hold of them... things could be worse.
Little do they realize that telling only liberates them.
