This seems to be some type of earlier conditioning of man. Like a reflex. I don't know if anyone knows for sure. It can also happen with you are outdoors and the sun pops out. The link seems to be a large reaction in the pupils tricks the brain that you have something in your nose and need to sneeze

sometimes when i have to sneeze, i have been told to look at a brighter light or go outside in the sun and it works. I am not sure why but it works.
