Don't get hung up on the actual date of the birthday either. If it falls on a Tuesday or something, either do it the weekend before or the weekend after. There's more going on and you will get better atmosphere whatever you decide to do. Have fun!

I think you should take him to a place where you can be alone together. Be romantic, go to a really nice hotel with a hot tub, get some wine and strawberry's with wipe cream that you can feed to him and make it your own little getaway for his birthday.
