To protect children from harm or potential danger is STILL the parents responsibility. It has been the parents responsibility and still is.

As for the television, film, music industry and internet, the so called 'responsibility to protect' or be accountable with the contents that it delivers to the masses or to the children in this case, is something to be looked at and considered at all times. It may be one of the guidelines in terms of lining up a program, editing a script, composing a song or putting up a website, that will NOT or somehow not involve any violence or sex in it. Most of the shows in the TV are sad to say, sexually suggestive and full of profanity. What kinds of shows are our children watching?...Although the responsibility rests primarly on the parents on why they just let their kids watch these shows, the TV, film, music industry and the internet, are also accountable to the overall framework of our kids' values and behviour.

It's really hard to 'push' the channels to just produce shows, films, music and websites, that would be really 'good' for our kids- overall, the reason why the tv, film and music industry is so lucrative in its business (and even the internet), is because of the unimaginable amount of profits it earn on a daily basis. That is plainly commercialism.

We cannot rule out that all shows, films, music or internet content are bad. In fact, there is a great attempt to produce quality shows, films, music and websites that are appealing and equally good for the children.

Well, somehow, since we are living in a mass madia-oriented society, the responsiblity to 'protect' kids is both the family's and industry's responsibility. We are all accountable and we do all contribute to their protection.

It is not anyone's responsibility but the parents. Probem is since parents have quit caring what children are watching and use tv and computers as babysitters it has become the industries problem to take care. Just like when parents wouldn't educate their kids on sex, the school system had to step in. Same thing. My sister in law has 3 sons. All they do is computer. They are teens and have no interest in girls, driving or anything else. All they care about is the computer. It is wrong. My kids have a time limit on those things so they will have freinds and do other things.

It never stopped being the parents responsibility but became a widely spread idea when Hillary Clinton said it takes a village to raise a child. I feel it is the parents responsibility to monitor television, film, music, and social situations. The schools are stepping up and trying to teach morals and ethics because so many people are not doing it. Recently I informed my school my child is not in a tribe and I will impose punishment, morals and values they can teach the education.

It always has been and always will be the parents responsibility.
But nowadays its way to easy to blame everyone else and hire a shark (atty) to go sue someone (and get rich) even at the expense of child.

it still is the parents responsibilty to censor what is inapporopite for a child to watch on tv or in movies or listen to on radio. Parents still need to keep a eye on what a child does.
