You first need to see if there is ANY place in the house or basement or vents that might contain a black mold. It can make you very sick! It can be removed with cloroxing.
Carpets that are very old can contain molds. Carpets that are very new can contain chemicals that can make you sick. If you can, replace the carpeting if it's old, or have it shampooed several times if it's new.
There are crews that can come in and check your home for these things. Try looking on HGTV.com
Good luck!
ps I have an Ionic Breeze Ionizer from Sharper Image. Can't live without it.

You may be having allergies to something in the new house.... Different mold or dusts in the air that weren't there in the prevous house. Check the air filters and if that does work then maybe talk to your doctor about getting on claritian or something that is a once daily allergy med. There are a few other things it could be.... Are you sleeping on the same bed as in the previous house? Sometimes changing beds or changing sleep positions causes you to sleep with your mouth open and that could be the cause of your sore thoart. Also change in temps of the house or even just sleeping with an overhead fan on. I would suggest simply trying to get things as similar as they were in the old house and if your sleep hasnt changed then check into the allergy thing. Hope this helps some :-)

Sounds like an allergy to something. Is there a lot of dust in the house, maybe new carpet, or is it an older house? Mold can be a major health problem, and it commonly causes a sore throat.
I wouldn't wait to find out what's causing this. It could turn into a major health concern if not dealt with.

You got many good answers but also think about the fact that you may have fallen pray to a virus (cold/influenza). Moving is a stressful and lowers your defenses so its more likely to get sick. I have had a terrible sorethroat myself in the past few days. If yours last more than a week, then its probably allergy related and not a virus unless you get a fever which is an indication that a viral infection has also gotten complicated with a bacterial infection.

Drink a cup of tea and then get some Tylenol sore throat. If it doesn't go away, go to the Dr. I have allergies and my throat is really irritated right now. Tea helps.

It is probably allergies. But since you didn't have it at the old house and now at this house it must be something in the house causing it. My first guess would be something in the carpet. Maybe they had a pet and their is pet hair in there. I don't know if the house you are in now is brand new built or old. Maybe it is mold in the house. I'm sure their is someone that can check your house for these things to see if something in the house is toxic for you. Could just be that right now is bad for allergies in that location. I know for the last week mine have been worse. Good luck.

You may need to give the house a thorough cleansing. Make sure you don't have mold growing, the spores can make you sick. Also, have you been sleeping with a fan on? I know whenever I sleep with the fan on, I wake up with a sore throat, not sure why, but it has always been that way.

There may be something in the house you are allergic to...or perhaps the a/c ducting is dirty and you are reacting to that...I'll get a sore throat when I sleep in a house where the AC is run quite chilly as the cold/dry air affects me that way...
Clean the house real well, have the AC ducts checked...could there be mildew in the walls or something like that, that you may be allergic to?

If you're sleeping with your mouth open, it might be that you're throat is drying out. Or...
You say that the house is new. If that is as in newly constructed, there might be fumes still lingering. Try airing the place out and see if that helps. Or if it's previously owned, perhaps you're allergic to something the previous owner had. In which case, you're going to need to thoroughly clean the place to remove whatever it is.
Good luck!

All the answers above are good. Just want to add, get an allergy test including the most common reasons for your symptoms, like cat, dog, mould & dust. Will help you pinpoint the cause of your trobles.
If you're really unlucky, your reactions may come from building elements like wall boards, carpet glue or certain paints.
