It is the moon. You are thinking of the full moon when its round, but youre not thinking of the stages it goes through. When young it has horns (A Crescent) loses them in adulthood (Full Moon) and regains them in old age (A Crecent shape again).
I googled the answer and its a malaysian riddle.

i think i know why its the moon: when its a crescent it has 2 pointy bits (horns) and then it turns into full moon and back into the crescent....but ill go with deer

i dont think the moon has horns.
im guessing a deer, because they do grow . lose, and regrow antlers.
