Because when you abandon reason based on evidence, in favor of unreason (faith), violence is the only alternative available for settling your differences.

I see alot of because they are. What religions are you referring to? And why do they seem like a collective species of lunacy? Is it because it makes a little sense and you do not want to believe. I get really confused about how some people can mock things that they either no nothing of or want to no nothing of.Of course this tpe of thing is to be expected as we draw closer to the hour of the return of our Saviour. Good Luck

There are no major religions that count anywhere close to lunacy. It is the people who "follow" and pretty much overhaul each religion to suit them that are the lunatics. The Crusades pitted two cultures lead by seemingly peaceful religions under the command of zealots together. The current Middle-East Crisis is another example of two on the surface peaceful religions clashing because of the leaders of certain countires.

These people wrote this book along long time ago. They have these things called prophecies in there. Most of them have come to past. The last ones in there say that the wars in the last days will be religious wars. (They will cry peace peace and there will be no peace.) Some people worship rocks and squirrels. To each his own but only a loony person that is sleeping at the wheel would make a remark like this.

ANY religion that claims to be the ONLY way is wrong! Period! Collective lunacy occurs through fear and control. It's a shame so many people buy into it and don't think for themselves.

No one knows the Whole Truth of God until the sounding of the Seventh Angel/Prophet.
Those who think they have the only way, or are the chosen ones, or have the last prophet, or don't need the Messenger,,,,are only parts of a Greater Truth.
so, see the Bigger Picture. God is One but also, includes Everything. The Greatest Sign shows how they all go together like pieces of a puzzle. If you only have one piece,,,,then it seems confusing.

Religions are like viruses, collections of code that aren't alive on their own, but can attach themselves to humans...and spread to other humans.
A virus isn't necessarily good for the host.

I'm puzzled why you say "some religions" in your question. That almost implies that there are some religions that seem good and reasonable. They are all built on fables and deceit. Truth is not to be found in religion.

Because they are.
Perhaps they were designed by a very knowledgeable being, understanding the Human Psyche very well.
They have worked for all of this time, haven't they.
