I put this in the religious category because the focus of the question is about world view. Example might be: Someone named Barbara said a snowflake is complex but was created through random natural forces, and did not require a designer.

There are a few that have influenced me, you among them. As for what was said, let's just say that no matter what when you interact with someone they will make you take a look at things that perhaps you hadn't thought to look at before.

Today I have experienced a breakthrough in psychology, in the understanding of human nature, in the understanding of human relationships, in the understanding cultural evolution, in the politics of power and in the politics of maximisation and minimisation.

1. Everyone has an initiating self, a rational self
and an impulsive self.
2. The initiating self comes up with ideas when
the other two selves are stuck.
3. The rational self evaluates everything
and chooses something from the best permutations
as to what is available.
Then the rational self plans and follows that plan. If all goes
smoothy, then eventually the impulsive self will
automatically take over.
4. The impulsive self automates some, most or all
of our functioning. With some impulsiveness in daily life,
little pleasures and little problems are handled easily
and without sweat. When most of your life is handled
by impulsive intelligence, then more complicated problems
can be tackled without any sense of creating
further problems. When all of my life is managed
or steered by impulse, then life is wonderful and I cannot
put a foot wrong.
5. When you are tired, then the impulsive mind tends
to take over.
The impulsive state is happy and in the happy state positive feelings flourish.
The rational state is a serious state that is able to concentrate when this is necessary.
If the rational mind gets stuck, then negative feelings will start to flourish.
Life is about getting the balance right between these two states. Some people use more impulsiveness whilst others use more rationality. For others it is the other way around. Some operate using a fixed ratio between the two states. Some people never adjust the ratio. Some people experiment with ratio adjustment under the control of the rational self. Some people experiment with ratio adjustment under the control of the impulsive self. And some people experiment with ratio adjustment under the control of some other ratio of the impulsive and ratonal states.
The initiating state is needed to unstick the rational mind when it is stuck and when the automatic mind cannot be activated.

For me the above is a breakthrough because now I can relax and make it possible for me to run on automatic (continuous impulse). I will enjoy this very much and I will have a good life. But if I run up against a situation that requires a bit of concentration then I will be able to rustle some up. And if at anytime I feel stuck (ration mind has run out of ideas) then I can either go straight back on automatic to the degree that this is posible or I can play around at initiating something by generating some inspiration.

It was you actually. I said that I tell people that I'm Agnostic I hate doing that. when I thought I was an Atheist.
Then you said:well actually thats not bad
:cause the reality of it is philosophically
:being an atheist is stupid,
:cause think about this,
:i can not prove the existence of the flying spaghetti monster
: but it might be real
:so to say you dont believe in it
:see what i mean
:its like,
:you have to believe only things you can prove
:but if you cant prove ever the fsm or jesus is god or any of that,
:but cant disprove it
:why would you believe something isnt real
:see what i mean
:so i think really the whole thing if we were intellectually honest wed be agnostic.
PsychoBug : True very true.
JD: this i was thinking yesterday in fact
:i cant prove what happens after i die
:so why would i think i just die and theres nothing
: wouldnt i need an expiriment to find out before i believe something
:which is the failure of modern religions
; they say all this stuff
: about what happens when you die
:but theres no evidence
: so
:agnostic it is for me.

For some this may not mean much, but for me it's a little help for this thing called salvation.

I am not sure that I have been influenced or life changed, but I have been truly appalled at the way Christians answer questions here. It has given me some clear insight why people are so against Christianity, if they think that what is seen on yahoo answers is indicitive of all believers.

It saddens me to think that they are doing more harm than good. I hope that somewhere someone will say, now that vicki she shows Jesus by her fruit....

I watch for your questions, and you are well aware of it. So, I guess you would be the person who has influenced me most here in YA land. I have no idea what you look like, but your intellect makes me somewhat interested in you, as a friend, mostly. I have seen several other women in here who's answers to your questions would suggest that they feel the same on some level. So, you should count yourself as influential on the opposite sex, at least. One of the first answers I got from you really made me feel better when I was having a bad day, so now I'm one of your many groupies. Savvy?

I have looked more deeply at my own beliefs due to several of the questions I've seen on this service. While a lot of what I see tends to be very argumentative, the people who really post a good question, or seem to want a legitimate answer, have helped me to look a little more closely at my views about God, life, and how and why we believe what we do.

Oh , but the snowflake does have a designer. That's not a very influential statement.
The only thing I have gathered here is knowledge of how others view religion particularly Christianity. Which is valuable information to me.

I wouldn't say a answer to one of my questions has influenced my life, but it did give me insight and the will to study more.
