interesting question, maybe it's worth an experiment. You and I both go out drinking, then go to bed ;)

Depends on what you mean by "a few".

Passing out is not sleeping. In fact alcohol-impaired sleepers never get into REM stage (deep, dream sleep). And when you don't sleep, you don't have to "wake up". You just sort of come-to after the booze makes it way to the exits. Hence the need to pee and drink a lot of water. And getting "back" to sleep can be a real drag because, while you're not technically rested and restored, your body and brain have "held still" for hours and will be uncooperative when you seek more sleep.

Best cure? One more drink.

Nite nite.

Yep, you wake up against your will because your body is screaming out to be rehydrated again and try as you like you can't get back to sleep no matter how hard you wish. If you do fall back asleep its a fitfull short sleep. Usually you wake up because the lavatory is urging you to pay a deposit. But your head is so sore you refuse to either budge or open your eyes. You decide to ignore it. No, you fool, thats the worst thing you can do. Don't give in, it will go soon. You're awake again. You should have listenened, gotten up, gone to the loo, drunk lots of water. Lying down again won't feel as nice as before you got up. Ooooooooh, you can get irritable about this, but, ooooof, there's your brain being rattled about. I'll sit down and have a cup of tea. Yeah, tea, the good old answer to everything. But, oh dear, tea tastes horrible today. Yep water it is, water it was, should've been last night and oh g'd my head hurts. Why is it 7.30??? How did this happen? It's sunday morning, 7.30, I am in pain and I am up and my cruel, cruel, nasty little head, is shrinking on my shoulders, not letting me go to sleep and I am in pain!!! Why??? Why do I deserve this?

It never stops you though....

If I have more than two drinks I always wake at about 4or5am really annoying. Cannot get back to sleep until it's time to get, up then I could sleep for a week. Have learnt not to have more than 2

Yes, I think most people do! Have a big glass of water and some cheese on toast (with ham and sweet chili sauce if you're feeling that way). Go back to bed and put on the radio - you'll be asleep again in no time and the food & water will help discourage the inevitable hangover.

I presume that 07.00am is your usual time for waking/getting up during the week days when you go to work. Accordingly your body clock cannot tell the difference between a week day and a weekend - hence you wake up early at weekends too.

Consider yourself lucky - some of us are awake and 'up' two hours before you and hence you get two hours to 'lie in'.

try eating bread and having a glass of water before bed, if you do get up, go to the washroom, then go back to bed and try reading or putting on a movie.

just relax, but sometimes i can't fall back asleep because i did something extraordinarily stupid and can't stop thinking about it ;) but if not, you'll go back to sleep.

when you drink and go to bed, you don't get your R.E.M. sleep, which is when you are the most relaxed and deeply asleep.

the alcohol doesn't allow you to reach this peaceful sleep, so if you wake up and do something for 20-30 mins, (eat, drink, pee) you should be able to fall alseep.

happy boozing :)

yes this happens to me, so annoying. I think I wake up when I finally get sober, and it's a nasty feeling. I don't drink anymore so it hasn't happened for a while, but when it happens to you, go for a pee, drink a gallon of water and take some head ache pills, then close your eyes again til the room stops spinning.

I do....but it's usually to do with the fact I'm so thirsty. Alcohol is a diaretic....means it dehydrates you...so I wake up early due to a need to drink water or something.
