No, There are xD, SD, MMC, Smartmedia and probably many other types of cards. I am not sure which is the best but I use xD, 1 gig card that stores lots of pictures. You may want to look fo ra carg that is comapitible with your coomputer!

No, not all digital cameras use the same memory cards. Sony for instance uses a memory stick, which can only be used in Sony products. Most other memory cards are fairly common and can be used in different products as long as they all accept the same card. Their are many different cards, some are bigger, some smaller, some have a greater capacity, and there are several different brands. You just need to find out the physical size of the card your looking for then you can look at memory size and brand.

No. Most digital cameras use SD cards, but some companies such as sony and fuji, use proprietry cards that that they can license and make more money out of, such as xD cards and Memory stick Pro Duo cards.
You will end up paying more for proprietry memory than non-licensed memory such as SD cards, because the manufacturer has to make a profit on top of the company licensing the technology for the card.

No, there are several different types. My old digital camera ran on one type and when it broke on a cruise, when I got a new camera, I had to get a different type of card. It would be nice though if they could make a universal card.

Secure Digital memory cards are the cheapest and most popular. If your camera uses a different type, you'll get fleeced.
