'trinity' is no a coherent concept. That's why nothing about it makes any sense. Trying to force yourself to believe it is like trying to force yourself to believe the earth is flat. You know it makes no sense, but you simply decalre that it does because the alternative shatters your faith.

Matthew 24:36: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father..."
Momentary tangent: My study notes say that in some manuscripts the phrase "nor the Son" does not appear. So there's some uncertainty over whether the Son "knows" or not.
But it doesn't really matter, since regardless everything the Son "knows" he knows from the Father telling him. That's the key point.
The basic answer to your question lies in the nature of the Trinity -- three beings of identical substance (i.e., inherently the same), and act as one unit (i.e., one community so close that they all act as one), yet who possess individuality and various "roles" within the Trinity.
For a real-life example, one can believe that all people are equal, and yet work for a company that has craftsmen, financial officers, marketers, a CEO, middle-management and so on. Based on their skillsets, experience, and temperament, despite the fact all are "equal" since they are all human beings, the corporation employees serve different roles and have different levels of authority in the organization.
In the case of the Trinity, the Father is called such because that's the role he fills -- he guides, leads, provides, etc.
The Son is called such because he serves the Father, reflects the Father, honors him, does what he does all under the Father's authority.
This is important when you look at the Son as incarnate in Jesus.
When Jesus took on human form, he "submitted" himself to God and allowed limitations or "boundaries" to be placed around him. It was rather like being shut into a box or small room, so that you can only see as far as the walls around you.
So Jesus was still the Son -- but anything outside his "room" could only be relayed to him via God, and Jesus trusted that God would give him permission or endow him with any knowledge or power that fell outside those "walls."
This explains how Jesus could live as human, experience life as a human, and thus still relate to us. His 'essence' was still the Trinity, but he was completely dependent on the Father for any supernatural ability or knowledge. When the time was right, the Father would provide; and the Son's job was to trust that what the Father asked him to do or what the Father gave him was what was needed.
So Jesus did have to "pray" while in this "limited" human form. He had to have faith. He had to trust. He had to relate to God as a human being would.

Jesus was not given that information it was not necessary for what he came to accomplish on earth it was not in the plan of God. The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit are just the many ways God has chosen to manifest himself, after all he is a God. Believe it or not we all made the transformation from the spirit to human form and most people don't remember. The Father does know things the Son don't know he is the Godhead. The Son who is obedient to the Father will return to earth when he is told by the Father. Trinity means three so you have three forms in one the one means they all come from one source with the same intention, so the Son was in human form therefor needing the approval, direction and blessing of the Godhead that was why he prayed.

Good question.
I'll try this:
John 14:10
Don't you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
John 17:20-21
20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message,
21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.
Remember, Jesus was indeed a man. On the cross, He asked why God had forsaken Him - God turned away because He could not look upon sin, which was what Jesus was at the moment - the whole world's sin.
Think of it this way - as a parent, you know things that your kids don't know (even if they don't believe that!).
As the Father, God would certainly know things that the Son didn't know.
Hope this helped.

The only reason most "christians" cant explain it because they have not been taught properly,we have to understand that Jesus Christ was both Human and devine,so his devine nature knew when he would return to the earth but his earthly nature did not,so it also is when jesus was in prayer,Since God became human and dwelt among us he still prayed giving us an example because his Flesh still had to be under submission to the The eternal spirit. So the Flesh that God dwelt in prayed to the Father. There is no such thing as the Trinity Jesus christ is God..hes the father in creation, son in redemption(or the flesh of God) and he is the Holyghost. He is 1 person with 3 titles

The Trinity exists of 3 beings, as the word itself says: God the father, God the son and the Holy Spirit. This is but a way to show how God as one single being manifests himself in three major ways: as the spirit we have in our hearts, as the on God we believe in who is as a father to all, and as Jesus who became the son of god by being baptised. He clearly states that he does not possess the knowledge his followers at several points ask of him, because he too is only a man.
The problem you indicate is also the root cause of the schism between Catholic and protestant beliefs and the medieval Cathare belief which was a combination of Islam and Catholicism. They cleary state that Son of God was only a title given to the last great prophet and that none other that God himself may be honoured and celebrated.

The statement Jesus makes is a reference to the way the Jewish people performed weddings back then, and the Church is the Bride that, when Christ comes back, he will take us to heaven to miss the 7 year Tribulation in which the Antichrist comes to "make war with the Saints" that is the Christians who convert after the "Rapture" but I digress, the Groom would propose to the Bride and she would accept then the Groom would return home and prepare his house when the father thought it was time the groom would go to the Bride and they would marry and return home. Oh and to the guy who said Adam and Eve where metaphorical you are incorrect the Bible is not just metaphor there are a lot of Historically accurate stories.

God is a triune God. He is one God with three persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. A big thing to remember here is that God is eternal, meaning He always was, and always will be. He is not limited by time or space. He exists in all time periods. We, as humans, are finite. We exist only in one time and place and are bound by those factors. Our brains can only understand things with which it can relate... finite things. We can understand the fact that God is eternal, but we cannot understand his eternality.
This concept of the the Father knowing things the Son and Holy Spirit do not know is something that is pretty hard to grasp, as it is one of those eternal characteristics of God.
It's something we believe and understand through our faith.

God operates in three different capacities. God the Father who sits on the throne, knows when God the Son, Jesus will return. Its when God the Father says. God the Holy Spirit is the invisible part that draws men to God, teaches, convicts and comforts. The three are a part of one God, but can operate separately.

As you may know that both christianity and Islam are similar in stories though the names have been changed...Jesus...Mohammad...
How do you know that Jesus did not know when the hour will be? How do you know that the Father does not reveal everything to the Son. In Jn's gospel, he did say that 'I am in the Father and the father is in me' and 'I am the way...etc....'
You must understand that the gospel writers did not write every word for word about Jesus life but narrated incidences that have happened in the life of Jesus...and personal conversations with the Father is not one of them. He may have gone to a quiet place to speak to the Father or his disciples witnessed his revelation as the son of God on Mt Tabor - in the transfiguration which looks like the most authentic scene in which the father and the son are revealed to them, but that is all...It is here that Jesus revealed to them of his impending death and resurrection. He clearly knew when that will happen and that is why the plot was thickening gradually as he made his way to Jerusalem...I think you need to read, digest and meditate on the bible to get your revelation of the truth....

We have to remeber that Jesus came down to not only save us from our sins but to fullfill the law. He also spoke in parables and almost everything He did was an example to us on how we should do things. When Jesus prayed to His Father in heaven He did so as an example of how we are to pray to our heavenly Father. Because they are a trinity and although one also separate it is important that He not know, only the Father. And even if He did know He would not have told as this is something we are commanded to know the signs of. We are to be on the watch and see the signs. This is the age of faith and we must have the faith in our Saviour that He will not lead us astray but do only that which is good for us. I hope this has helped.
