Learning the Truth about God & Jesus is the highest form of "enlightenment" you'll ever achieve.
Anything short of that leads to more ignorance.

I think they are.
Enlightenment is about reason, questioning nature and society and bettering ourselves.
Christianity is about forgiveness, acceptance of all humanity and non aggression.
As long as Christianity doesn' t mind being questioned and doubted by Enlightenment and in turn Enlightenment is able to respect people who need faith and doesn't offend with it's probing and questioning, there's no reason why Christianity (and religions in general) can't be compatible with Enlightenment.
It's when fundamentalists and opportunists get involved that religion and even Enlightenment get off track.

Enlightenment can come from any source, so yes they are compatible. I was enlightened the other day about something dealing with lighting a set for movies. I was just blown away and it changed the way I think about lighting.

Not only are they compatable but accepting Christ as your own personal Savior & Lord is an enlightening experience. Faith in Jesus Christ is the only true faith that saves. Jesus Christ is The Way, The Truth and the Life, and nobody comes to the Father excecpt through Him (John 14:6). Christianity, Judaism, and Islam all worship the same God. The only one that recognizes Jesus as the Son of God and worsips Him in this manner is Christianity. God begat his Son through the Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit.

Religion, including Christianity should be about enlightenment. It should take you to a new plane of understanding but it seems that it rarely does.

Christianity is the 3rd Seal of the 7 Seals(Messages) of God! It is one part. Just one part will not give you the Enlightenment aka Pure Consciousness (Heaven).
Knowing all 7 Seals will however. Now the 7th Seal is opened as Christians are awaiting.

From my understanding of the concept of Enlightenment, it is the acquisition of complete inner peace through knowledge and wisdom. In Christianity, knowledge is important, but wisdom and inner peace does not come from knowledge. They come from God. So, the two concepts don't really mesh that well.
