Whoever proposes faces a risk of rejection. It's traditional for a man to propose but slowly, women are starting to break out of tradition.

It's all of social conditioning for decades. I don't think world don't consider man and woman as same as long as their behaviour is concerned - be it an information age but the world is still growing as far as BG relationships are concerned. But it's not more than a perception and today many women would accept that there is nothing harm in reciprocating to a man about their likeliness. If a man can propose and accept defeat then why can't a woman understand this fact.
Also if they can't be open in the first level of communication then how come they think they would be able to reciprocate about their sexual needs to the man they marry.
To me - woman with an ego just don't like the idea to let themselves down by asking someone to love. By default they accept its not their duty.

Actually its a bit mindset through they usually live. I also think modern age has come but naturaly instict has not changed or it iwll not change because it is something they themselves cann't change.The way they live in society comparautively to boy needs a lot of support and security and it varies from country to country where life style changes so the order of their life style and they are bound to live with there female composed nature which is truly different from male because nature has made these different so they are not equal so we shdn't expect something which is just opposite to thier natural living style.Now understanding there nature and society through which they live in matters a lot.So in most cases they wait infinetly and they are true in that sense.Now boys have to take chance if they say or want to live with there expected friend.Girls do come with with there choice if they feel that the shd have now if they say no to boys then boys shd also respect there choice as well.And if boy realy feel that he loves then he shd express through love and caring activities if he doesn't see any change then he shd stop everything and starts searching for some best one which is in true sense made for him only.Because we shd also feel that all these realationship are till you live not after death.

probably because most parents do not arrange marriages anymore!: ) however, when i was single i was proposed to by 4 different men and i married the one that i proposed to and gave him an engagement ring--he was not any of the previous 4. still together 18 years later!

I think the Ad. makers in India will be very angry with you. I have seen two advertisements....one for a paint.... a beautiful house uses a particular paint and the girl is so obsessed with that house that she goes and tell the occupants that she wants to become their daughter in law. They say their son in very small and she says she will wait..... If this is not enough, another one, (I think this is for a saree) This girl straight away asks an old man that she wants to marry his son...while the son remains in a corner and blushes.... she invites little girls to join her in the "saath pheres' Have you seen and heard enough? Then keep quiet. This is 2006 and things have changed drastically atleast by the ad. world who think they are ruling India

Listen here b/c its traditional, romantic, and a women feels like shes walking on clouds and when a real man hears the words, Yes in response they too feel great!!! If you think about it like that you are not ready for marriage and/or you don't really love the special person you are with.

cuz the guy has to buy the ring .... serriously,,,,,, it take a guy longer to commit than a woman because of maturity levels. so if a woman waits for a man she loves then he is ready. if the woman proposed all the time she would be shot down alot... !!!!!!

because that is one of the guys duty's. and the girl knows that if the guy likes her enough and really wants to spend the rest of his life with her then he will propose.
