When something goes to a collection agency, if the agency successfully collects from a person, about how long does it take? I know that collection agencies fail to collect on many of the items sent its way, but I am curious about how long it takes when it is successful. Other statistics regarding collection agency efforts are welcome. Reference, either print or online, is 100% needed.

It depends. If the collection agency tries to collect from me, forever: I do not deal with collection agencies, ever. If I decide that a bill should be paid, I go back to the original creditor.
