answer me this:
why are so many americans worried about other americans being so grotesquely overweight??
A lot of ppl judge overweight ppl as wanting to constantly eat. But no one ever considers that some really-really overweight ppl has a medical conditon....do you honestly think they really and honestly want to be 700 pounds???
They have to live each and everyday in the redicule of the peoples eye...judging...critizing. As if they chose to live this way.
I see to many questions on this same topic here on Yahoo Answers....and it really eeerks me to see some of the idiotic responses...."they wouldnt be this way if they put down that cheeseburger"...etc....
I think Americans need to check more into why ppl are more overweight today...then they was 20 years ago....instead of putting down the ppl who needs and wants help and not pitty!!

There are various possible reasons:
1. lack of self-control (some of the most delicious food are unhealthy)
2. lack of healthy food choices (meaning not much available healthy food)
3. unhealthy food choices (meaning the conscious decision on what food to eat)
4. always on the go (thus always sticking to fastfood)
5. too busy (again, turning to fastfood)
6. unawareness of the consequences of obesity (so not much thought put on having a balanced diet)
7. lack of knowledge on healthy eating
8. lack of funds (thus turning to cheap fastfood)
9. medical ailment? I'm not sure if there is...but just giving the benefit of the doubt
10. because they want to be (maybe they don't see obesity as a problem)

Mostly too much fatty fast food and too little exercise ... we still eat as much as our ancestors did, and then some, but we don't work nearly as hard physically so the result is overweight.

In my opinion: (1) too much 'fast-food' and not enough healthy&close-to-the-natural state-foods; (2) not enough activity; (3) apathy in regards to own health; (4) 'live for the moment' selfish attitude.

Fast food has been made to convenient in our country, and videogames and computers too much fun for our youth. Adults have become lazy in turn allowing thier children to be lazy.

James Cramer refers to our economy as "late stage capitalism." But I think his phrase refers to a great many things in the USA, in addition to its economy.
In this case, "Late stage capitalism" means that discipline and hard work are "out" and rapid and frequent gratification and laziness is "in."
