There are people that will do this sort of thing even though it is illegal. In most places, it is considered theft to keep someone else's animal. If Stormy is a cat, he should not be wearing a leather collar...they are very dangerous if she gets caught on something. Is Stormy microchipped? If she is, that may help. Post flyers at vet's offices and pet stores, with a picture. Also, post an ad in the paper with a picture. Make sure you make it clear that there is a reward, Stormy is greatly loved and missed, and that no questions will be asked if Stormy is returned alive and well. Hopefully someone will see Stormy at this person's house and call you or the person will feel bad. Unfortunately, there is the very real chance stormy was hit by a car. If not, there is the chance you will never find stormy...but don't give up. Have you called the police, shelters, etc? If you do find out that someone has Stormy, call the police and ask for their assistance getting her back. I know what you're going through...I had a dog disappear that we believe was stolen. I'll keep you and Stormy in my prayers.

You shouldn't put a collar on a outdoor cat. They like to squeeze through tight places. If the collar gets snagged on a branch or something the poor cat is stuck untill it can back out of the collar. If it's too tight there's no escape.
I have had a cat dissapear for more than a month. I thought she had been eaten by another animal or run over. When she came home she looked like she had been living in the woods. She was skinny and starving.
I hope Stormy comes back to you. If she does get rid of the collar.

I'm sorry your cat is missing. Hopefully Stormy will return and maybe you can make her an indoor pet then. You can place ads in the newspapers and post them around the neighborhood and offer a high reward, and pray ... God knows where she is. You can walk around and ask people to watch for her and say there is a reward, and the news should spread. If someone is going to all the trouble to try to keep her as their own, surely they would also take care of her then, though it's a really mean thing to do. Good luck and I hope you find her again.

If it is your pet, and you have proof...i.e license, shot records...call the police! If you have no records or proof of the cat being your's, there may not be a whole lot that you can do besides confronting these people (if you know who they are). Seems to me that the cat was stolen, it happened to me before, and I didn't have any proof that the cat was mine therefore I couldn't do anything about it. You know it is also possible that she is slipping these collars off, cats are pretty good at that! Hopefully she is safe regardless of what happened and will return home soon. I recommend that you keep her in if and when she does come home. Also have you checked with your local animal shelter??? Someone could have taken her in. Go to the shelter and look for yourself, you can call and ask but they may be lazy and not actually look. Take a picture to post on their bulletin board. Good luck! I know that you can get very close to any pet and to lose them is quite devastating, I am a cat lover myself. I hope you get Stormy back soon!

Most likely the collar thing is due to two things-one either your cat has learned to get her collar off because it was not placed tight enough on her neck or two you are right and someone has her. I would think that most likely that person is someone in the neighborhood. Possibly a little old lady. If for some reason the cat comes back I would no longer allow it access to the outside.

If you already checked with animal control, put up posters and offered rewards, there is only one thing left to do.
This is going to require some leg work, take a picture of kitty if you have one and start knocking on doors, in say a three block radius around your house, Someone may know who has the kitty, or knows some details on kitties whereabouts.

PS.catloverme you got a double thumbs down from me.

She could keep losing it, a good collar is made to come off if they are caught and struggling... and leather ones CAN break.
I'm so sorry that you can't find your cat, keep working on it.. and when/if she does come home, get her microchipped
I'm crossing my fingers for you and Stormy... best of luck :-(

To Catloveme123 - How can you be so judgemental to someone who is already hurting? Cats aren't meant to live indoors, if its a big city sure its a necessity, but cats should be able to roam around and walk several miles, just like dogs they need alot of exercise. I had a cat in the suburbs and she was indoor/outdoor and she lived to be 19 years old in perfect health til she got cancer.

As for finding the cat, there are alot of good suggestions on this page already, but perhaps you can increase the reward, or the radius in which you posted flyers. I hope you find her!

I had a cat that ran away for a week at a time. Once he was gone for over a month. I thought that someone got him or he was dead and then he just showed back up one day and he's been here every since. Give it some more time maybe she'll come back.

Are you sure she is not slipping the collar off once she catches it on something? I suggest not using collars unless they are the breakaway kind; cats get caught on things and can hang themselves if they can't break the collar. Anyway, I would also suggest you make her indoors only if she returns again. I am sorry you can't find her. My best wishes for her safe return.
